Here are my 8 characters, used lot of transmutation crystals. I am quite happy with most of them.
I am not sure if I should get the nightmare top for my mesmer and I was having some troubles coming up with an armour for a charr necromancer.

Yeah you got it right

random armor pieces. cheap armor pieces.

I try to go with a fantasy military theme. They’re a noble and I see them as sort of a military officer/JAG kind of character (especially after that early investigation and court room story).

I don’t like armor that’s too busy or flamboyant—which a lot of ele armor is, unfortunately. I try play up that he’s a noble and an officer, but also a capable warrior (hence the gauntlets)

Lots of great combos here. This is my necro. A bit colourful for a necro I suppose, but it makes more sense when you see the wooden dagger skin equipped.

The mask is necro starter mask demon, coat is honed acolyte and the rest is cultural T3. Colours are antique gold, grass, celestial and hydrangea.

I at least one T3 Top / Vigil Legs (Medium) combo, which is pretty popular, but didn’t see any (cursory review) Whisper Top / Vigil Legs representation, so here’s that.

Necro, Guardian and Warrior.

They are kinda easy to figure out but with the color layout its really making them shine.
For the necro since i called him “Nurgle” ( god of death , decay, pestilence, fear, etc) i tried to give it a rotten template.

For the war, having Volcanus and the flaming armor of Cof was a pefect match up but the Tier 3 Charr cultural was just too gorgeous to let it pass by so mixed both of them.

In the case of the guardian well didnt really have a concept to start with but i like the Ebon Guards weapons so tried to match the color template with these, in her case the concept came by itself.

A mix of gear from starting gear to cultural with some crafting pieces thrown in

My guardian is wearing this, currently incomplete set, just need the Orrian buttcape to finish it off

Your necro is amazing! It’s not easy for me, what armor and dyes are those?! It’s the best non-hot-human-girl light armor wearer I’ve seen.

I dig a lot of the folks’ style on here. Especially the charr with hoodies.

Don’t play my thief anymore but I had transmuted the hood to use with duelist armor.

My most mixed set is on my ranger, which I am still leveling.

I made my Warrior’s current mixed set to take advantage of him having The Juggernaut; I wanted large areas of plate mail with minimal useless “decorations” such as spikes and rivets.
Yet I also wanted it to look like it was a set, so each piece had to work well with the adjoining piece/s.
It was also important that it actually look like heavy armour; I can’t stand sets that leave the neck, arms and legs exposed.
My only concession to decorative armour is the plume on the helmet.

There is a clipping issue; the knee plate for the boots clips through the Vigil Leggings skirt on the left leg. But I think these boots are the best heavy boots in the game for the look I’m going for, so I’m willing to ignore that.
