Post your favorite moment in-game
It’s not quite in game but when I made my first Norn over two years ago and got blown away by the opening sequence. I haven’t looked back and I still love listening to it.
I’m going to have to add Marionette as a proper in game fond memory (favourite moments?). I had the same buzz doing it for the last time as I had the first time. I had flashbacks for ages afterwards.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?

Heh… still remembering mine. As i made my first char and main, an iron legion charr engineer there is that one story mission where you build that anti ghost musket and then can decide to either use the tech for deployable turrets or a giant cannon. Obviosly i picked the giant cannon…and as i saw it, it was quite a bit more…extreme then i thought it would be. The epic moment was as they told me that i should operate it… i expected to just push F and watch some cutscene…. yea screw that noise, target that thing and fire it yourself…and man was it awesome. That was that moment where i got that “uber kitten charr engineer” feel where i truly felt like i play a member of a race thats technology is equal to magic in destructive force. I almost could see tanks drive before me and a sea of heavy armored, heavy armed beasts of war charging…sadly it only lasted for a moment…then i was pulled back to reality of trenchcoats and hobosacks. Oh well… maybe one day a-net gives a kitten about the charr again and brings me back to that feel…
The Ancient Karka event when Southsun happened. As buggy and laggy as it was, this dynamic (and one-time – unless you knew a workaround) event sticks out in my Guild Wars 2 experiences.
hmmm… having a hard time thinking of anything. It’s all so predictable… repeatable… I suppose taking back our garrison right after I got my first com tag at month 2 post launch. About 100 of us to siege and around 200 of them in our garrison and they had it all day. Took an hour to siege it, and a lot of focused direction.
But as for pve, that’s the hard part. I suppose in general, cursed shore before they made it easy. It was a really fun zone, really challenging. But like most stuff in the game, it became easy enough for my 7yo niece to play.

My favorite in-game thing that ever happened was in Labyrinthine Cliffs. A bit of open world RP was going on, and it was right after the jaguar cub was introduced in the gem store the first time. There was a shady vendor who was selling exotic animals that did not seem very well-cared for. And since it’s such a small map, and emotes carry so far, it was almost impossible to miss.
So, the human female was particularly distressed over the state of a jaguar cub in the bunch, and she couldn’t afford it. I got on map chat and said, “[human male], if you don’t buy her that cub, you’re a monster.” And half the map started discussing the roleplay that was going on, including the two roleplayers. It was just delightful, and nobody was rude.
They ended up upending (huh, try saying that out loud fast) the cart and liberating the animals and, apparently, she released the jaguar cub into its natural habitat or something. I just loved how invested the whole map was in the fate of the jaguar.
My best moments in the game usually involve other players, but as far as events go, the Marionette event really stands out. I think Vinewrath is also really well designed.
The noir scene where we were introduced to Marjory was fantastic.
Lord Faren subverting the “damsel in distress” trope.
Playing Toypocalypse with my friends in 2013.
Playing SAB with my friends. Also in 2013.
I’m sure there are more that I’m forgetting.

Because we can’t be angry about both?
I’m Terrible At Video Games, and especially bad at jumping puzzles. So my favorite moment in GW2 was the first time I finished the Mad King’s Clock Tower. Even if I had never beat it, I really enjoyed the tens of hours I spent trying, so it would still be a standout memory.
Hmmm….. favorite moment? Well, I always loved the chapter of the Asura storyline, the Infinity Ball. Where the final boss of that chapter is…… myself!
Hmm… I have a few of those kinds of moments…
One of my favorite to recall was the first time I was helping fight the Claw of Jormag.
Seeing everyone work together to bring down the dragon was amazing to me.
But the moment he gets shot out of the sky, crashes into the ground, bounces off the ice spire, and then nearly ends up in the lake… That was memorable!
… The human race would never have to worry about be oppressed again.”
I think trolls should have their computers smashed. ’Its all part of the game. U mad bro?’
Me and my friend were on EotM when we went into a small room near a generator, there was an enemy Asura in there. We guessed he/she was AFK after a couple of /wave’s. We were just stood there when the Asura literally seemed to jump at the sight of two enemies. We waved again, they waved back then left, I mean Waypointed or left the EotM altogether. Social awkwardness at it’s highest, me and my friend included.
When I pulled a precursor out of the mystic forge… Oh wait that didn’t actually happen
But honestly it would probably be fighting pre-nerf/fix Subdirector Null (the version that came out intially.) totally crazy but still so fun.
First time I played the battle of Claw Island. I thought that it was the most like GW1 content I had encountered so far and thought it was a sign of more to come. Still one of my favorite bits of content in the game.
first year mad king clock tower
it became crap after they nerfed the people into wisps
Maybe a bit wistful, but coming to Ebonhawke and seeing that fortress. Then finding the cemetery with all those GW1 characters…

My absolute favourite moment in game was watching the heart of thorns trailer that plays after you finish season 2 of loving world. It is an incredible cinematic and I still watch it at least once a fortnight.
Second favourite is probably getting my first legendary, bolt. It took me so much work and it is in my opinion the best skin in game.
Third would be the cutscene at the end of season 1 of the living world. Again it was amazing and I had been desparate for there to be another elder dragon right up until mordremoth was shown in that scene.

I really enjoyed exploring the Shiverpeaks with my first norn. Oh and the personal story mission ‘Source of Orr’.
Definitely launch/headstart! This game is easily my favorite launch of all time. The community was helpful and friendly (still is, but was more so at launch in my experience). “Hey guys!! I found a Jumping Puzzle, come see!” And everyone would rush to go try out this new and exciting thing. When everything was new to everyone, it was amazing. I remember walking around Rata Sum when I was level 40, and people would marvel at the level! I remember when we first started going through AC. It would take at least in hour just to get the party into the same instance of the dungeon! Then, it would take forever to beat it. The dungeon was hard and we had no idea how to do anything. Everything was tense since we didn’t know what to expect.
Also! My first time at Claw Island. This is my favorite part of the Personal Story! I’m an adult, but I literally cried near the end of that mission as a Whisper agent. It was the first and only time I cried during GW2. I couldn’t believe how upset I was! And, the moments leading up to that felt epic. I’ve done the mission like 100 times by now, but I still look forward to it.
there’s 3 things i can’t decide between
finally, after over a year of working towards it (yes it took me about 1 1/2 years to make it), finishing my Kudzu
Back when WvW was much more popular (at least on my server) and almost every night was giant fun fights and lots of amusing teamspeak conversations (granted that’s not just one moment, it’s probably hundreds)
and, of course, when I first started the game. I saw a youtuber (MrRhexx, specifically) play it, and went “dang.. this game looks pretty cool, and i’ve been wanting to try an mmo”.
I didn’t really know what I was getting into, honestly, and I was super overwhelmed when I started, but oh geez, was it so cool just running around the sylvari starting area, and then killing like 200 drakes to unlock all my skills (my first character was actually an elementalist.)
In particular, I saw the map and it just BLEW MY MIND. it was so amazing looking and made the world look so large. Sadly, it isn’t quite as large as other mmos, and to my disappointment, the ENTIRE map isn’t available, but it definitely made up for that with the insane amount of detail in the map compared to other mmos i’ve tried. almost every area felt brand new, and nothing felt empty. and that was awesome.

On my first day in the game I ran into 2. I died due to something stupid and when I went to the map to WP I got the message ‘a noble soul is healing you’ across it … coming from a war game that was … wow. The other was lovely calming music playing while I did the low-level sylvari heart with the pups. No matter how many boss battles and special events I am never going to forget those two.
Started my first character after picking up the game the day it came out. I went with human thief and, after going through the starter mission, I turned and ran up the hill and into Divinity’s Reach. I did not leave for at least 3 days as I wandered the streets in awe at the scale, the sights and the sounds. I really mean it – I did not even venture out into the rest of the game for at least three days and really did spend my in-game time wandering around the city and down the dark alleyways.
Shortly thereafter, I made a sylvari and didn’t leave the Grove and caledon for a couple weeks. Friends (at the time) that I started playing with were all about racing through content and had already explored and ‘map completed’ all the starter areas before I even made it up to the water and Tengu Bridge area of Caledon, let alone knew what map completing even meant.
Here I am still playing completely solo and enjoying content, while they raced and didn’t appreciate anything and ditched to play some other random game after a few weeks. What I find pretty funny (and sad) is, a few of them came back about two months ago and logged in for maybe 3 hours total and combined over 2 days without saying a word. In that short time all they seemed to do is decide to kick me from our guild we had that I had built up on my own after they quit, and then they quit and disappeared again, off to play Warframe or Kerbal or some other random game for one week before jumping to yet another game. It sounds like I may be a bit sour about that, but it’s actually one of my favorite in-game moments; reminded me of how even friends that you know and talk to practically every day in-game and out-of-game for 10 years can suddenly change or disappear altogether, or suddenly change and then disappear.
I still enjoy wandering the streets of DR.
There’s a lot of fun to be had (and re-had) in GW2.

Unfortunately, I joined the game right after tower of nightmares, and wasn’t able to participate in the marionette fight…
Anyways, keep me coming guys!
First Beta Weekend when the servers came online and I heard the log in music for the first time.
The Beta Weekend “end” event with the giant Rabbit and rabid raccoons.
Finding various Guild Wars 1 places and how they changed over time.
First time i fought either The Shatterer or Claw of Jormag, don’t recall which one i faced first.
This was the first time in my entire MMO life that i saw so many players getting together for something outside of raids. I played WoW before and i know there’s some world bosses in there, but it didn’t feel the same.
Here, it just felt like a truly epic fight, dozens upon dozens of players fighting a gigantic dragon was incredible. Only thing i don’t like is how there’s no real……challenge. You can fight these 2 right now and literally let your char auto attack, leave and you’ll likely still be alive when you come back to pick up your chest.
Doing the Frozen Maw event for the first time in beta, fell in the love with the game at that point. Shaman was really tough back then, you were pretty much fighting an open-world raid boss at level 10 and could easily wipe. Dodging out of his AoEs and ressing people was a lot of fun.
I feel bad for newer players that will never get to experience this, nor anything else even remotely challenging at the lower levels due to the NPE.
I have two.
The first. I was fortunate enough the second week after release to be down in Sparkfly Fen standing at the waters edge when “There’s something in the water”. Back then we didn’t have Dragon Timer and no one else was around and I didn’t even know what went down there. Teq flew right out in front of me. I was in awe. He was easier back then, but I couldn’t solo him.
The best one however was the second WvWvW season. I was involved in an hour and fifteen minute defense of SMC. My group was not out of combat the whole time. We were getting it from north and south at the same time. There weren’t any mass wipes and those killed were always streaming back to SMC. I was on my ranger, the last profession I leveled to 80.
I always had a sweet tooth for DAOC relic raids and no game has captured the chaos and mayhem since…until this fight. The whole time it just looked like we’d lose it, but we held on by our finger tips. We were going on in chat about how awesome the whole thing was. About 10 minutes after it ended I finally go to sell and salvage when I find Dusk in my bags. I’m not likely to top that.
When the team announced the very first holiday event, I was dismayed. For the majority of the dates they’d listed, I was going to be in London, with limited access to the internet and a computer that with much less power than the one at my homebase.
When I caught a few minutes, I’d struggle through some of the released content’s story and did enough to gather up a nice Mad Memories backpack… But there was no way I could handle the Clocktower. As someone who’d completed all the jumping puzzles in the game, this was a massive blow.
When I returned home, the Halloween event had less than a day to run. I raced around sweeping up the achievements I hadn’t grabbed and then set myself to the Clocktower itself. For hours. And hours… And Hours. It was painfully hard. Really. Then, about half an hour before everything was taken away, I realised that some people who’d had difficulty with the last jump were complaining it was bugged and that a restart would fix it. I hastily patched up my game and got back to work.
Four minutes before the Halloween event ended, my little Elementalist crashed through the face of that Clocktower and man, did it feel good!
When a guild member was going all crazy about getting a Zap out of the Mystic Toilet from using dungeon exotics, then I got filled with more jelly than a jelly doughnut, so I did the same and got one too. I freaked out just as hard. That Zap led to the making of Sunrise about a week later, but I think the best moment was definitely the winning of the RNGlottery. Actually getting a legendary always seemed like an extremely far off dream until that moment.
My best moment is during personal story as well:
Too bad it had been patched No more funzies of spamming 3.
