Most of the rare items I get, I salvage. A couple of weeks ago, it wouldn’t take me long to get 30-40 ectos in a few SW sessions + world bosses. Now, I’m lucky to even get one ecto from a salvage…

It actually started when I had to make a new Mystic Salvage Kit, when my last one ran out. Ever since I’ve been using it, it’s been giving me the worst salvage almost every time. Surely the RNG can’t be factored by each kit? Or maybe my luck is turning sour. :/

If it carrys on, I’ll just throw it and make another. Such a waste though.

The kits are identical and don’t somehow have variation in salvaging built into them. It’s just RNG. If you’re that worried about it, just make another and put the first one aside.

Odd…second thread about ectos and new Mystic Salvage Kits. There may be something to keep an eye on with these new kits.

If it is then it will be a bug hitting all the newly made mystic kits and making another won’t help.

I also started a thread about ecto drop rate being lowered AFTER the salvage kit update of a couple of weeks ago. I suddenly found ectos harder to get from salvaging rares than ever before.

Okay I only use masters kits but this issue happened the LAST time anet updated salvage kits and only got looked at after players started collecting drop data over thousands of rares.

Regardless of what people said to me on my thread I do believe there is an issue that needs to be looked at by anet. I would go so far as saying the"kit fix" update made to give you correct salvage of runes has affected the ecto drop rate.

Hopefully more players will notice this and get anet to look at it!

There are people who salvage hundreds of rares a day. If it’s a problem, I wonder why they aren’t posting about it, instead of just 2 people in 3 days on this thread, saying there is a problem but posting no numbers to prove it.

I have the silver one from MF, always get a reasonable amount of ectos from overall salvages.

I have to agree that the drop rate for ecto seems lower than it was a few weeks ago, both me and my OH have noticed it. I used to recon that I would get 1-2 ectos per item on average, some would give 0 some would give 3, most in between. Now the average seems to be about 0.75 per yellow item. I normally use the Mystic salvage kits but I have started to use the spare BL ones I have sitting in the bank and even they seem to have a lower drop rate than they used to.

I don’t salvage hundreds of items, but I have been trying to collected ectos for my legendary so I have been slightly more aware of the drop rate than I was previously. I guess I just thought that Anet had decided there were too many ectos in the game and decided to reduce the number.

I haven’t noticed this then again I’m only logging on like every 4 days or so to run a couple fractals. I get exotic drops now during fractals rather consistently since I don’t run them every day. I went a solid 7 months+ running 50s before that and didn’t get any exotics after a week into it. I also get about twice as many rares. People say this is RNG and if it is that’s fine with me. But salvaging for ectos I’m still getting on average 1.5ish per rare.
