I’m not going to rant about the price tags, or at least sound like I am ranting.
If something is worth the price, I could at least justifying the price. Two packages do just that, justifying why they are more than the standard’s $50 price tag. 4000 “free” gems (worth $50) kinda (?) explains that. It’d be nice to sit down and itemize the current worth of these extras and see how much of it is indeed “free”.
My issue is what am I getting for the “base” package of $50. In order for me to feel completely comfortable with that price tag there are a few things that I need to know. I’m trying to be careful to not just go for the hype.
For starters:
1. Beta Schedule (how many beta events, for how long and about when) Paying the $50 sounds better if I’m going to be playing at least 3 beta weekends rather than 1. Assuming they follow the same model as before.
2. What’s completely exclusive to HoT that an existing GW2 account won’t get? Anything other than 1 class, new maps – in their words, small footprint, but crammed with detail? We know a lot of stuff is coming like specializations, Stronghold, and new WvW map, but don’t we already get that with our current gw2 account? Do we get new dungeons, raid content, how many new hours of gameplay?
3. Approximate release date of HoT? Not super necessary, but nice to know before I fork over $50 right now. If it is way off, maybe I’d pay that money next month rather than now.
Now that a price tag has been attached, what really am I getting? I’ve always been under the impression that this expansion is small. If so I find the $50 price tag a bit much. However if there is more to it that hasn’t been released yet, they I need to know this before I make the purchase, otherwise I feel I’m just spending my money based on hype and nothing concrete.
