Q:

While at the Laurel vendor (Lions Arch) I noticed that every ascended item having condition damage also had a precision attribute. Ideally I would like to get something with Power, Toughness, and Condition Damage only.

Is there some relation of precision and condition damage that is not explained in the wiki?

I don’t know if this is on the wiki or not, but here is what I think. There are a lot of upgrades you can get that apply conditions on critical hits, ranging from sigils that add bleed on crits to traits like one on the engineer that adds burning on crit. So while Condition Damage itself can be used with just about any other stat, high precision builds can make exceptional use of condition damage because of all the procs. That is likely why you see a lot precision/condition items right now; condition damage is more popular among players who use crits rather than direct damage.

There are many traits/sigils which proc a condition upon critical. If you are running a condition class these can be of great use and precision and condi dmg can go hand in hand.

There are some traits or sigils with bleeds on critical hits.

But except for that (and even when counting them) it’s a horrible combination as most times those sigils and traits won’t made up for the total damage (direct + condition) that a Carrion gets over a Rabid.

Precission by itself is a horrible atribute. It needs tons of powers and critical damage (which means wasting other 2 atribute lines) to be good. There are very feeeeeeew exceptions where precission might be good (like particular builds with multiple on-crit effects) but even then if you want to optimize it you should take power too.

There are very few condition builds that will benefit from precission, some necromancer builds and others maybe, but in most cases it’s a garbage combination after you do the math and see you throwed an entire atribute line from the window.

Just to show how bad Precission is: if you do the derivate to distribute 1000 atribute points between Power and Precission to see the best distributio for max damage, the result is that in adition to giving all 1000 points to Power, you should substract some atribute points from Precission (meaning a very small percentage of attacks that will restore your targets life instead of damaging him) to reach maximum damage.

That’s how bad Precission is by its own compared with power. Carrion equipment is most times (except very few exceptions in very specific builds) much better than Precission + Condition.

And nope, despite being one of the craftable families of atributes, we still don’t have ascended carrion equipment (which is why I haven’t gotten ascended equipment yet, as a protest for only having access to garbage combinations for most condition builds).

Older topic, but I’m agreeing for sure at the lack of choices with the ascended gear.
I was browsing the wiki, but I don’t see anything that is specific with Condition Damage/Vitality/Power like all the gear/rings/accessories.

Have they talked about changing this? Or making some ascended pieces that have those stats specifically?
My current exotic rings have better stats than the ascended choices so why even bother with purchasing them?

I disagree with Precision being a bad attribute. Sure, it takes alot of points to increase, but for most professions that directly translates to endless dodging due to vigor-on-crit, and many other effects such as bleeds, vulnerability, swiftness, etc. It largely depends on your profession and your build, but you can usually make use of at least five different proc mechanics at once if you include sigils. On top of this, high vigor uptime directly translates Precision into DPS for some (e.g Warrior roll, bomb-on-dodge for Enginner) or self-survival for others (Guardian’s dodge-heal).

Its not so much that Precision goes well with Condtion damage is that Precision is needed in virtually any build that is not PTV or Dire. Other stat combinations lack the survivability and offensive utility and have to make up for it with crit procs.

Well, dire also provides crit as ascended. Got about 4% crit from it. As a bunker with now 8% crit and 28% with fury, a sigil (like the earth one, 60% chance to add bleed on crit) doesn’t really help. But I don’t really care about this mini amount of crit anyway.
