Do you think that it would be better for the game if the precursor drop would be removed from the forge?

The precursor would be put as a loot in the dungeon where its gift must be obtained.

Hence you would see an increase of player to dungeon and to specific area of the game and player would play to obtain their precursor.

If I want to gamble that much, I think we have casino’s irl for that.

Let us play the game and know that we have a tiny chance to loot something by playing the game.

What do you think?

Removing an option like this has many faults. 1. It closes the ways to obtain a precursor. 2. It forces players to grind out specific dungeons. 3. It kills the precursor economy and makes getting one even more painful.

Precursors are too important to the “end game” for so many people. They never should have been random drops to begin with. Massive mistake on Anets part.

Firstly precursor are already a possible drop in dungeons, they’re just extremely unlikely. (As is a precursor drop anywhere, including the Mystic Forge.)

Secondly if the drop rate was increased for a specific dungeon I think it would be better to make it different to the one you get the gift from. Otherwise you’re just requiring players to run the same dungeon even more times, which makes it much more likely to be boring.

I’d love to see this be the way to get a precursor: the gift from every dungeon, the gift of battle (once they put the rank back in) some equivalent gift for pvp (but ew do I hate pvp) and, say, the weapon of your choice from the dungeon that legendary needs. For bifrost, it would be an Arah staff.

Throw it into the forge:
Gift of dungeons
Gift of battle
Gift of pvp
Dungeon weapon

Out spits the precursor.

At the end, you’re still grinding for it regardless. Grinding for a ton and a ton of gold. It’s a grind because if you truly want a legendary weapon, the best thing to do is play the same content that gives you the most gold repeatedly. If you don’t want to grind, then you’re looking at a few months of playing before you can even accumulate enough to afford one.

1. A way to obtain a precursor could be implemented in WvW also
2. Well if you want a legendary you already have no choice but to grind, so why not make you grind something in the game that is relevant instead of grinding the forge
3. It will not really kill the economy nor make it more painful. The painful thing right now is that you have to be extremely lucky to get a precursor and hence you have to gamble like mad to obtain one. Is gambling at the forge playing gw2?

Do you mean the economy that was destroyed by exploiters and TP-no-lifes? Precursors are far too difficult to obtain.

Obtaining a legendary should be done through legendary feats. Not luck and credit cards.

Still waiting for the things I love about GW1.

I just bought mine of the TP and it costed me a lot of coins. I don’t think it is faire that some people are able to get a Legendary faster than others just because they are lucky.

I agree, there should be another way to obtain a precursor instead of just luck. Don’t really mind how it will work, or what system they have in mind for it but I hope it is not crafting…. collecting materials or buying them off TP is also nothing that gives you more pride in owning a precursor or legendary.

In the past I tried to gamble, and threw over 600+rares in the MF without any luck. Never had it dropped either and do have a good amount of played hours.

So far all 3 of my precusors have been gained from the forge, The Hunter, Rage and at the moment the only one i turned into a legendary, Leaf of Kudzu. Removing this option is a crazy idea ;-)

Its not that crazy, people will probably spend more time playing the actual game instead of sitting at the forge and hoping to be lucky

I’m afraid the high of getting the precursor will be lost. Right now its so sudden, surprising, and wonderful to get one.

Most of us don’t know this feeling, despite countless hours played and hundreds if not thousands of gold thrown into the MF. Therein lies the problem. A few lucky people get rich beyond belief and the rest of us WORK in our game to get something we want to enjoy. I personally find the system completely unfair. However, I can see that if you’re one of the 1%, you find it highly perfect. Go figure.

I don’t find it perfect, but I will say having a guaranteed precursor versus the excitement and surprise of having one drop (probably the second best feeling I’ve had while playing the game) would seem to be less awesome. My opinion though.

For the record, I didn’t get rich with my precursors. I used them. Other people got rich off of my t6 purchases.

I understand your point, but on the other hand, I would feel a lot of happiness at having done “X” number of hard/interesting/fun content and achieved my precursor. As it is now, I have to run around Frostgorge Sound for hours, weeks, months, salvaging, saving gold, to buy something that someone else got by the luck of the draw. I’m not happy if I have to do that. It’s a job. I don’t want a job. I have a job. I don’t want my fun time to be a job.

People should be able to get the cool stuff by playing the game, not by farming. With TOTAL randomness involved in the “best” item in the game, they can’t do that.

Instead of spending “100s-1000s” of gold, how about you buy the kitten thing. Hell with 1000s buy the legendary. It’s your own fault for wasting gold

If someone can do it, and you can’t, the problem is you, not the game.

I got both my precursors from playing the game. I’ve never tried the Mystic Forge thing. Wouldn’t have a clue how to go about it, and it sure wouldn’t give me the feeling I got from getting a precursor from a drop!

No, to having to ‘work’ at a dungeon for a precursor. Who wants to do the same thing over and over and over and over?

Precursors are fine as is. Either you get blessed by the RNG gods and get it as a drop or from MF or you work to gather the gold and buy it off of those who were luckier than you.

(This coming from someone who has bought 5 precursor for personal use because I’ve been cursed to have abysmal RNG.)
