Precursor Acquistion Cap
No they haven’t. Even if they did they’d not tell you.
Just delete posts that are derailments.
Never been a cap on precursors one account can obtain, it’s all up to the RNG Gods
“ANet. They never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity to not mess up.”
Mod “Posts created to cause unrest with unfounded claims are not allowed” lmao
Nope.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Not currently, no.
However, from what I understand, there will be a cap to the new precursors in HoT:
-The new precursors can only be obtained by crafting them through their own collection achievement
-They are accountbound so cannot be traded
-The collection can only be completed once for each precursor.
Yea, I’ve read about the new precursor system, thanks for pointing it out though. Mainly just curious about the “old” precursors and limitations, if any. Ie. do they stop after say, 100 precursors, for example.
You may be only able to craft one of the new precursors, but there is no limit on how many you can obtain through other means, i.e. drops or the MF.
As to 100 precursors being the limit, I’m not sure anyone has obtained that many through drops or the MF to test the speculation.

Save for the fact that they’re going to be account bound and NOT drop at random or from the MF, as I recall.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.

Here is what the blog states; it seems to indicate the new precursors will drop:
We like to think of these new precursor skins as the legendary weapon before it is embodied by its soul. Unlocking one of these new skins in your wardrobe will also unlock the two previous tiers of skins. So, should you get lucky and find a precursor out in the world, you won’t miss out on the skins.
You are correct that it did not specifically address new precursors from the Mystic Forge. (Unless, of course, ‘drop’ includes being attained from a MF chance.) My bad.
Well, there are some who have gotten close to a hundred, I am not sure if anyone has gotten more. If someone got 75 or so from the forge, would they implement a limit, is the basic question.

I was going to quote that entire section, so that it could fit into context, but in looking at it again I noticed this bit below it:
This crafting system is an account-based activity, which means you’ll only be able to craft each precursor this way once. However, all of the currently existing precursor acquisition methods will remain intact in addition to this new acquisition method. That means that if you want a particular precursor more than once, you’ll have to fall back to the original methods of acquisition.
At the end of the article, it does say that the new ones will be account bound and untradable, but I guess they can drop if you’re lucky. My bad.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
Nope
I don’t think that article says anything about whether the new legendary precursors can drop or not. The context seems pretty clear that they’re talking about the original set of legendary precursors, which obviously can be acquired as drops.
Let’s use the Moot as an example. A moot is a norn celebration of prowess, so that’s the basis of our themes for the legendary mace named for it. The first collection is all about the hunt, so you’ll be proving your abilities by fighting fierce creatures around Tyria and acquiring a trophy to show for it. By completing this collection, you’ll unlock a recipe to craft the first iteration of your precursor—a nontradable exotic weapon with a distressed version of the existing precursor skin.
It’s explaining the new precursor crafting system using an existing precursor as an example. I’d infer that all precursors will go through the same three-tier crafting system as described in the article, but just because some precursors can drop in the world doesn’t mean all can. It would be rather strange if they could, as then you’d end up with a precursor you may have no interest in turning into a legendary and no ability to sell. It’d be the Dry Top fossilized insects all over again, before they had a vendor who’d exchange them for something or had a PvP track to hand them out. Except even more aggravating.
If it were only the current precursors, how could you unlock the new skins from a drop, as stated in the Blog?

When they change this, all precursors (even the old ones) will now have three stages and three different skins.
Those that have one of the precursors already will get the 3rd stage skin, which is right before it becomes the legendary. So, they’ll unlock skins 1 and 2 for free.

The same way, iirc, equipping Eternity would give you skins for the dusk/dawn legendaries.
if there is, im pretty sure mine is 0
