Could a dev please confirm for me that precursor weapons do in fact have the possibility of dropping off mobs that are lvl 80 outside of WvW. Say a risen chicken or a champion abomination. Doesn’t matter how low the chance is, just need confirmation one way or another on the possibility.

Of course. That’s where the majority of precursors drop

I appreciate the response but for full validation purposes, I would very much like for a dev confirmation.

No idea what would be the motivation for lying, but someone posted in another thread not long ago, about his/her guildie getting a precursor off a drop from a SouthSun mob, just today.

a friend of mine is saying they cannot drop off random mobs and will not take player submitted screenshots or posts as proof, so here I am, hoping for a developer response lol.

They probably don’t drop off mobs, but just for him. =P

I found zap when doing dynamic event in fireheart rise. It’s from a veteran Ooze from the dynamic event to spawn the merchant to perchase fire elemental powder.

I can confirm it as well, I got venom off from the vet scaldmaw in fireheart rise. Technically upcaled mobs seem to have a better exotic drop chance, personally I never seen any dropping from a regular mob.

Somebody got The Legend while farming at Union Waypoint yesterday. We all dropped our jaws in awe.

Precursors are a myth!

No offense bro, but the devs are not going to comment specifically because you have a friend that doesn’t trust other players. If they spent all their time giving official responses to every nay-sayer in the game, they wouldn’t get anything done.

They can drop anywhere in PVE, friends got precursors in CoF P1, fractals (low level only) and random mobs in Orr. Keep Lords in WvW also drop them

I once got a prec warhorn from random mob in CS. So it is possible.

Also it’s Saturday and about 3am in Seattle where Anet is based.

I assume most of the staff work Monday-Friday and the ones who are working over the weekend are unlikely to spend that time reading the forum and trying to reassure every sceptical player individually. Especially in the middle of the night.

And seriously if you believe every screen shot posted here and in other threads is photoshopped and all the people claiming to have gotten a precursor drop (or know someone who did) are lying that’s one hell of a conspiracy you’ve just uncovered.

I had 2 precursor drops so far, both in cursed shore, so yes they drop.
You can get them from mobs, boss chests, dungeon chest and even jumping puzzles

Guild mate got the Dusk in cursed shore 2 days ago from a random enemy. So they do drop, but id say unless your account has been flagged get rich, you will never see one.

Precursors do drop in PvE, been around where people got dusks in cursed shore, the legend in Arah and the Hunter from SSC.
