Hey so I got the game when it came out and keep playing it on and off but i’ve never actually done any end game content. Until recently when I boosted a necromancer to 80 and started randomly exploring maguuma, which was fun but I want a goal to aim for.

I have started the mastery thing to get precursor weapons (because I want twilight) but I have no idea how to get mastery in central Tyria. What am I supposed to be doing??

Also is it worth it to just buy a precursor and then go straight for the legendary?

first, you just need to look through your achievements for ones marked with the red tyria mastery mark and complete those. they range from collecting spoons and armor skins to defeating world bosses like triple wurm to completing story chapters like living story 2.

whether it is worth making a precursor or buying one is up to you. making it is a much lengthier process for certain but could feel more rewarding and ultimately more affordable to gather materials every day rather than gold.
i use this site to kind of decide which route would be smarter.

some precursors like dusk are cheaper to make than to buy.

since your going for twilight, it’s a toss up for what will cost you more. If you don’t mind farming the materials like mithril crafting the pre in this case is probably good. I know for me i look at the crafting the pre a long term cheapest thing to do BUT i would only do it on twilight and bifrost. If the pre is under 600g easier to save the gold and buy the pre right out then the 600-1k gold to craft it (specially if you wanna craft it asap) It will take awhile to craft it though, specially if you don’t wanna spend much as you’ll have to farm for those daily ascended materials.

Best xp,hmmm i’d say it’s all the same really just pop some xp boosters and do up events. I don’t think anyone does the CoF XP farm anymore since the rush of masteries is kind of over lol. Just make sure you keep farming stuff in tyria, so S2 living story should still work for that. Also remember masteries are account wide. So once your done getting xp from like hero points/exploring maps/s2 on one character you can switch to another character do it again still get max xp going to that mastery. I know that’s how i did my HoT masteries for xp

On the subject of Central Tyria exp, if you want to reduce that grindy feel, consider switching it up between world bosses and fracials.

As others have said before, check the prices before starting to craft Twilight. Crafting is still very expensive and was never meant to be a significantly cheaper option.

Also look at each collection’s wiki, you’ll be expected to have 500 crafting (at least in Weaponsmith, can’t recall if other crafts are needed) and do a variety of content including mini dungeons and fractals.

I’m not trying to discourage you. But there’s been many threads from players who go into the process unprepared and QQ when they realize they hadn’t thought of through properly.

IIRC the majority of the savings for crafting Dusk/Dawn comes from making the deldrimor ingots yourself. This also means you have to wait 90 days if you don’t already have at least 90 deldrimor ingots or mithrillium.

Precursor crafting is a trap, unless you want to make the HoT legendaries it’s actively harder and more expensive than just buying the kitten ed things outright.
