They’re pretty much aware of the issue, but I think it’ll take at least 1 more year being optimistic. They’ve announced changes for THIS year but nothing really changed, so…

It’s better to save the gold to buy one than roll the dice and hope to get one from the forge.

Isn’t RNG awesome?

On a serious note, precursor prices usually reflects the amount of gold needed to make/get the relevant weapons, throwing them all into the forge, and out comes the precursor type. Of course, you can get it on your 1st try, your 50th try, or even your last try. Then again, you can get a “boohoo” from the Genie in the toilet.

Most people would probably give this advice: just farm gold and buy it off the TP.

EDIT:
Even in real-life, gambling often loses you more money rather than increasing it. Of course you can get lucky on some days and earn a few bucks, but overall, its a huge loss.

Play PvP and use the free-soulbound Weapons from the PvP rewars chests at the mystic toilet instead :P
While keeping the money :P

Edit: Shhhhhh …. dont tell anyone f about it !
Not even the ppl in the other 50 threads !

It don’t make much business sense for anet to make them more available and cost less. while they cost so much more people will end up turning to buying gems to get the gold to buy them meaning more profit.

I doubt there will be any change to this until there’s new items as rare and more in demand to replace precursors with

So you had half the money you needed and then wasted it it all for a less than 1% chance at a lottery?

Seems like the system is truly broken.

I was saving up for a Ferrari. I got halfway to the retail price, and then I spent the money I was saving on lottery tickets hoping to win the rest. Now I have no money. Woe is me?

I know who I am, do you know who you are?

All players should be entitled to a precursor after gambling half what it costs in the TP!

I have only 1 hour to play the game in a week, I should be rewarded a legendary in a month or so they should lower the requirements to 4 hours of game time or maybe 5 to at least require some dedication to acquire this “legendary” luxury item.

Am I doing it this right?

You are not doing it right if you don’t obtain the legendary treasure of treasures: a Credit Card. With this legendary treasure, all other treasures become mere junk.

Stop crying. You knew what you were getting into when you kept spending gold. Now you learned a valuable lesson, hopefully.

It has been widely accepted that it is better worth your time and money to just outright buy the precursor you want than to try your hand at the MF.

On a plus side (if there even is one), typically if you spend 500g in MF with rare GS, you should make ~200g back in exotics. So you aren’t out the entire amount at least.

Either way, save up your money for the specific precursor you want rather than save up for RNG. Sucks but its true.

I have to admit, I’m enjoying selling my rare greatswords and other rare weapons for a nice price to all those trying their luck at the Mystic Toilet. Keep up the good work guys! I appreciate your business. I’ll have more to sell you after I do some more meta events.

(Walks away whistling a merry tune, pocket jingling with money from selling and salvaging rares).

Ferrari wouldn’t even sell you one like that! not to mention the maintenace and the tax but ofcourse there are ways to completly evade the tax by going to a not so wel-faring country… muhaha

Exactly.

Gambling is always heavily weighted in the house’s favour (ingame and IRL). That’s the point, you gamble to test your luck.

You can’t expect to gamble and make profit. That’s not how it works, otherwise everyone would do it and get rich.

Do it for fun or save the gold/money.

Mystic toilet does what it knows best. I never liked it and stay away from it as much as possible – but it’s working as intended.
