Precursors again...
You’ll do better just earning gold and buying the precursor you want, I think. At very least, you eliminate the random element.
How fast did you get that 66g? Might wanna hold onto it next time (though the prices of precursors are going up again).
Anyway precursor’s price is rising again. The karka loot was not enough I think, stupid traders don’t want to give up on their 150-300 gold price…
They already announced a scavenger hunt method, not sure what it will be, but they said they would provide an alternative to just farming for them.
Expect to have to go to many places around Tyria and start collecting things from Champion mobs.

I fixed it for you
You have to account for the fact the economy has undergone quite significant inflation since the bots were banned. This has meant people can afford to pay more and thus prices have stayed relatively static despite the influx of supply.
Garnished Toast
The inflation isnt due to just to bots/farmers being banned it has to do with drop rates going down outside of dungeons and the disappearance of nodes for resources then there is also suppy and demand that every mmo has
Right now, players earn gold way faster than they earn fine mat due to Orr drop rate nerf, dungeon reward buff and fotm. I won’t expect the price will go down soon because dev won’t dare to nerf dungeon. They can only buff the other. And since they will eventually buff open world, the fine mat/ecto inflation may slow down but the price of rest of items will continue to increase. Precursor tho is an exception. Their price will increase along the inflation but at some point it will collapse because dev will do multiple precursor QE. Not now because they are busy cleaning up the mid-Nov. mess, but it will happen as dev almost promised it will happen.

The primary cause of the current inflation is the Ascended gear requirements that quite frankly are just over the top.

This, THIS will be nice, and exciting, if they implement this, i will be excited.

Everyone is rushing for their ascended gear and spending loads of money into them. I on the other hand is waiting patiently for the changes to come (and they will come). The cost of making them will decrease along with multiple avenues of gaining Ascended gear will be open. I do not need Ascended to face roll people in WvW. Plus i just started playing in PvP and realizing i am actually pretty good at it in this game. Mind you i have been doing far less PvE now. Just WvW and PvP. I blame University for it tho.

Mess with the best, die like the rest.

Or wait til the next event, they hand them out in droves there!
We’ve been awake since March 2007! Please help!

Well, let’s take an exemple on the Lover:
Before Karka – 2 supply – 300 gold
After Karka – 50+ supply – 150 gold
People are greedy… And I’m not saying “stupid” like “nobrain”, but stupid like “Yeyeyeyeye, let’s buy all the supply to put my own price to get rich over others!”.
There’s more at work than one single event affecting the price. You have the karka that dumped a lot in the market. If you follow supply and demand then the price would logically drop. You also have FotM which has increased prices of a lot of components due to a high demand and low supply. Supply on a lot of items has been lowered due to the bots being banned.
These are just a few.
Actually, the pre-cursor drop really got buffed. Not in Southsun Cove and the chest after the Ancient Karka battle only, but more generally. The prices that dropped these weeks proofs it, and for the first time, Precursors drop in places they have never done before, WvW for example, I looted ‘Zap’ (Pre-Cursor for Legendary Sword) in WvW

I wouldn’t get too excited. They are obviously going to add artificial barriers to prolong this scavenger hunt to perhaps a 2-3 month venture (if you work on it every day).
Farming Netherwing reputation in WoW would be a close example.
