Prediction: everyone will hate this idea
it would make a lot more sense, but it would make guards the only profession (i can think of) which are good at applying aoe might above a stack or three.
not that that’s strictly a bad thing, curbing might application would be a severe blow to the power creep that’s been happening.

Yeah, that’s my reasoning. Might stacking is a big reason why PvE is all about stacking, plus it trivialises group content and most other effects that apply Might.
Did Phalanx Str get nerfed or something?
Sounds like a good idea given the leap finisher already procs fire aura.
Would be exactly how ethereal fields work then with the chaos armour on leap and blast.

GS warrior with Phalanx Strength is the best might stacker ingame. On one target can keep +20 stacks and with 2 targets perma 25 stacks. Only reason for blasting fire fields these days is so eles can grant perma fury to the group thanks to persisting flames.
Oh, that’s news to me. Thanks!
Is it confirmed change? Or people are just suggesting a change.

It says: “Prediction” in the thread title
I think he’s just saying it would make more sense.

One thing at a time!
Plus blasting Fire fields can be done by a lot of players/professions. With Raids and potentially other large-scale group content coming I think Blast + Fire is a more important concern.
as neat as this would be, it brings up a few issues.
ele would no longer have a unique mechanic of sharing auras.
leaps apply auras, blasts apply fields. what aura would you get if you blasted a darkness field? poison?
I think there are certain skills that would benefit from your idea, but the skill would have to be a leap finisher that had an effect like a blast finisher. A leaping attack that effects PBAoE upon landing. Guardian GS 3, for example, blinds targets aoe upon landing iirc. This is a very short list of skills and would change all the mechanics of combo fields.

Not sure what you’re talking about. You already get Frost Aura from blasting Ice fields and Chaos Armour from Ethereal fields. Blasting Fire fields for Fire Aura is actually logical, and most fields Leap and Blast the same thing except Fire, Light and Lightning.

Revenants can stack a nice chunk of group might with Herald.
I always had a similar idea for Leaping a smoke field (when d/p thieves were all the rage). Smoke aura: blind foes that strike you in melee (with an icd) and take less damage from projectiles.

Wow I actually like that idea, than the current 3s stealth. Would make for better trash mob dealing instead of the occasional war and guard stealthing themselves with leap skills for no useful reason when a Thief or Engi uses a smoke field.
I suggested a rework to the combo effects many times, particularly to water and fire field blasts, and got so much flak for it.
The premise to why I thought it should happen is so that more varied combat approaches (things that didn’t involve huddling together and bursting down mob(s) asap) would see more use. But not only those combos, projectiles and whirls too…but that was before they started introducing so many whirls.
I think even the devs noticed how few whirl finisher skills they had in the game so introduced a whole slew of them. Now Reaper has 2 quick access whirls, Tempest has a whirl in an overload, Daredevil can whirl with a dodge, Scrapper has a “nothing but stationary whirl combo” utility…I’m sure there’s more but lots and lots of whirls now.
I think they should still improve them though. Same with projectile combos.
Might stacking is a big reason why PvE is all about stacking
Actually , stacking is about pulling numerous enemies into one area to easily dispose of them. It’s carried over from the first Guild Wars. Grab aggro, break LoS, watch them all come ball together, destroy. Pulls in the ranged enemies with the melee. people just assumed it was ONLY for FGS and might stacking.

Notice I said “big” reason, not “only” reason.
Stacking also occurs in other MMOs as well. I remember in WoW stacking mobs during Burning Crusade dungeon runs in order to tank and AoE them all down. And that game doesn’t care about grouping up in a ball for buffs (in fact it’s a terrible idea in WoW because of cleaves). Guild Wars just makes it more important because buffs have such small ranges. If the buff range was increased to 900 and actual aggro mechanics were added then you could see people spreading out, wouldn’t change mobs being lured around corners though.

2 years of no content trivializes content. Not some boon.
If ANet kept all other might stacking the same and just added this along with buffing the auras a bit, I wouldn’t mind at all.
Blast Finisher + Fire Field = AoE Fire Aura.
Actually, I think this is a great idea. It would put less emphasis on bringing only classes that can blast or create fire fields in dungeons, and put more emphasis on what a class brings based on what they can do for the group.
Of course this does nothing for the necromancer since it can’t do anything anyone wants.

Stacking in the corner for single foes was a result of FGS (and a bit because of warrior gs 3). Like the first boss in SE p1, people still stack for it.
This would help reduce how trivial might stacking is and allow skills that grant might to feel as more of an impact on combat. Elementalist could still grant (reduced) might with blasting fire fields with One with Fire, similar to Persisting Flames.
