Scenario: You are within a team and one of the players just auto-attacks the whole time. They have no downtime and 100% critical strike from being in the team but all they do is stay alive (whatever that entails) and press “1”.

How do you feel about this player in general?
How do you feel about this player if you lose the encounter?
How do you feel about this player if you win the encounter?

Are you a psychology student? These questions you keep posing seem like psychology thought experiments.

“If a player just presses 1 all the time and you see he’s about to be rolled over by an arrowhead, do you interrupt it or not? And how does that make you feel?”

To be honest Economics and Psychology aren’t that far apart. I didn’t even notice.

I don’t notice. I’ve mostly done dungeons/fractals with PUGs, and I haven’t done tried raiding yet. I try to keep an eye on other people so I can support them, but I rarely pay any attention to what skills, builds, etc. they’re using unless it’s something that really stands out.

I wouldn’t notice. As long as that’s the appropriate way to kill things then whatever. Sounds like Revenant pre-nerf.

If staying alive was his goal then he probably did better than the others.

Happy? I like Winning thingz.

If a deaf player pressed 1 in the middle of the woods and no one was around to hear it does he make a sound?

I don’t care what they do as long as the encounter is progressing well and it isn’t a ranger that likes to press 4 on targets others are close combatting (that don’t have a break bars).

Fire up the Hyperbowl ma, we’re going to town!

Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?

If they are staying alive…they are contributing. Means less change of them doing something to mess up the stack/whatever the group is doing. Is it annoying? Sure but some of those skills are irritating to get spammed just because it’s a button to push.

If it’s a guardian with a staff I cringe. Had this in fractals a couple of weeks back. He staff 1 mash good.

That’s how I beat all the World Bosses, and how I fight in WvW zergs. And since I’m a Thief, I can stealth away when the zerg I’m in explodes. So to answer your questions:

1) This player is legit
2) It’s usually other players dying that cost us encounters, be it PvP, WvW, or PvE.
3) Pressing 1, but playing smart while doing so is the mark of a seasoned pro.

I’m fine with it. If we win, we win. If we lose, we lose. If the fight’s not fun, I’ll try to avoid it win or lose. If it is fun, then I’ll have fun either way.

If I start to care more than that, I need to take a break.
