Pretty, but Practical--show us your armor!
looks awesome
Don’t know how practical leaves are but here it is.
Technically, with respect to lore, cultural sylvari armour is just an extension of there body, so by that definition, when they where their cultural armour and cloths, they are still naked,. kinda like animals with their fur.
Don’t know about how practical the majority of even the covered-up armor is, considering all the random things that stick out all over the place – perfect for getting snagged by weapons.
I’m pretty happy with the mix of armor skins I have right now. I like having heavy armor that covers vital organs and arteries.
Though, considering all the TP hype about celestial dye, I was kinda hoping for it to be brighter. I want that kitten to blind my opponent. I mean, pretty pathetic that the white-dyed pauldrons are brighter than the celestial-dyed everything else, especially considering that most of that is t3 cult., and cost me a pretty penny.
It’s starting to be more of a rule for me to transmute my exotics to low level armor. I like the simple look. I suppose my guardian could do better without the skirt, but I really like the form.
I tend to run with flashy/skimpy outfits on magician types though. :‘) Since I think of them mostly standing around and waving a magic stick, it makes sense (to me) that they’re more about their image than clothing efficiency.

My ranger and my guardian
Well, I thought, since my Warrior must be a Berserker for PvE, I better dress up myself like a berserker. Berserkers deal heavy damage but can’t take hits for themselves, so this fits the philosophy quite well I think :P

Awesome combination!
(do not have pics to contribute to the thread, sorry in advance)
I cheated by using both Vigil and Priory armor…
But it looks nice!
You could have turned the graphics up, atleast for the photo :P
Exalted with a Feathered headpiece, Flame & Frost dyes, Beaded weapon. And the Fervid Censer of course.

Looks really good & unique.
Skathi. I felt as a zerker, it was very important to have ease of movement. And a Norn no frills, just down to business
the amount of human in these pictures is amazing :P

It’s true but you know Pretty, but Practical is a human thing, as so many of them dress like they are only vulnerable in a few spots around there chest and crotch. You wouldn’t see us Asurans dress like that, and our fellow Charrs always dress practically.
See.. perfectly practical
Here are a couple of my more practical cosmetic looks for my Mesmer. First there is a “Noble” look that is probably the least practical of the trio. There is an Assassin look that almost completely hides all skin. And finally, is what I’ve formerly dubbed “Business” look but tempted to call a Canach look now.
Heh, yes I decided to just post one screenshot with all three rather then post three different screenshots =P

Does anyone else look at this picture and immediately imagine them singing, “Stop, in the name of love!” That’s pretty epic!
Here’s two of my Necromancer.

Here’s the four looks I like best from among my characters. No skimpy outfits here (you’ll notice my human Mesmer is nowhere to be found… She’s not high enough level yet for me to invest in a nice wardrobe for her)

So awesome. xD
I love a game where I can don real looking armor if I want. Here’s my street-rat turned warrior:

None of my armor sets are really supposed to be protective, since all of my characters are pretty much totally Berserker. My Warrior is Sonic Boon so has a TINY bit of toughness to back her up, but that’s about it. I find that being totally unpractical is justified in that sense. :P
The big exception is my Guardian, who is built totally tanky and is wearing gear that suits it.

I needed a more “commanding” look, so here’s a blend of CoE/Vigil with my starter monocle
Helmet: Starter Monocle [Abyss]
Shoulders: Hidden
Coat: Crucible of Eternity [Abyss/Glacial Sky]
Gloves: Crucible of Eternity [Abyss/Glacial Sky/Celestial]
Pants: Vigil [Celestial/Glacial Sky]
Boots: Vigil [Abyss/Glacial Sky]
Tarnished Coast
the 4th iteration of my guardian’s custom armor set. none of them have ever been revealing….
if i find other pictures i’ll share
This is one of my ranger’s sets. I wanted to give her somewhat an assassin look without showing too much skin.
Head: Anonymity Hood
Shoulders: Assassin’s Shoulderpads
Chest: Ascalonian Leather Chestguard
Hands: Assassin’s Gloves
Legs: Seraph-Issue Leather Leggings
Feet: Falconer’s Boots
… and Ebon weapons
Here is my mesmers armor.
-Feathered Headpiece
-Corrupted Orrian Mantle
-Winged Tunic
-Heavenly Light Bracers
-Feathered Pants
-Feathered Boots
-Pink Quaggan Backpack

What chestpiece, shoulders, and gloves are those?

Temple Chestpiece, Country Shoulders, and I think Temple Gloves.
Kinda funny, as my Mesmer shown above actually does have a set that looks exactly like that. =P
@Andrax.4576
There is nothing Practical about that armor set!

Oh, but it is. Plenty of freedom for leg movement and nothing gets in my way. Or if it doesnt work well like that, at least it would distract the less intelligent opponents

Love the Sailor scouts brings back tons of childhood memories, but shame on you for having Sailor Mercury in the back with no blue hair at that! She was my favorite. Even dressed up as her for Halloween which my mother put a bunch of spray can blue hair dye. Then it was snowy that Halloween so the dye melted all in the back of my winter jacket which was mostly white with some blue. Which my parents were not happy about but I was the happiest kid on the block to dress as my favorite Sailor.
Sorry I derailed off Guild Wars 2 topic but good memories.
This is my ele’s current outfit, it’s quite simple and practical but elegant too. She’s supposed to be a noble so she can afford lots of material for her clothes!

Is that a Human Racial chest armor? Cause I would be very tempted to copy … or close to copy that look for one of my armor sets if it wasn’t.

Further Derailment.
Here you go, a screenshot of the Sailor Mercury with Blue Hair … and other wrongful details. =P

You want practical eh?
I’d say these characters have pretty practical armour.
The first one’s a dagger/dagger necromancer so it needs to get in close, therefore heavy-looking light armour felt appropriate. Besides, the helmet acts as a gas mask to keep safe from the smelly Charr.
The second character’s a Charr guardian. He’s made to take damage, so looking like a tower helps with that. As for the helmet… well that’s for intimidation. No one’s gonna mess with the Carebear Tower :P.
The third one’s a ranger in karma gear, as that armour looks just like something a ranger would wear. As for the gloves, it keeps her hands from getting cold xD.
The fourth is a Sylvari elementalist. Sylvari have quite a classy accent so I chose classy clothing. I guess that’s practical.

It’s tailor crafted Acolyte armour, quite low level so should be easy to aquire.

My ele’s knight set, I was originally going for a steampunk look but got sidetracked with more orgainic skins :P
My Elementalist is only lvl58- she has had this look for some time and I really like it.
She uses a Krytan Staff (not shown)
It is very simple and it makes her stand out among all the ele flowers out there
This is my main – I tweak the dyes every so often when I get a new similar shade. It’s amazing how different some of the dyes look even on different pieces of the same set. I think I have about 7 or 8 different colours on it all together.

LOL @ some people posting their sexy armor in the “practical armor” section.
I guess “practical” means something different to everyone, but I wonder what these people wear on a daily basis :P
(fyi, if you can get stabbed through your cleavage/muscular pec/belly/bum/leg hole, you’re probably not very practical haha)
Either way, cool armor sets you all!
