Primordus sword held upside down
I agree. It looks like it’s a saber that’s turned upside down. I think it would look better with the curve going up and not down.
Whoah. You don’t have to be that sword collector guy on youtube who does all those videos reviewing fantasy swords for feasibility to see that the upside-down sword is just unwieldy. The bottom screenshot definitely looks bad-kitten .. and by that I mean awesome in case bad kitten is censored.
It doesn’t have to be fantasy to be a reverse curved sword. History has plenty to choose from.

True. The one in your screenshot looks decent with the reverse curve. But the primordious sword looks better the other way, as the OP said.
I disagree. To me the GW1 sword looks awkward as heck. Like, you’d swing it at someone and the spikes would stick in them, like a morning star. The gw2 version looks like it would actually cut and slice, and the blade going forward is like a kukri machete.
I have no horse in this race, I’m not particularly enthusiastic about either one, but think of all the people who previewed the sword, liked it, and went through the effort to acquire it. How do you think they would feel about anet changing one of their weapon skins now?
It looks awkward either way really. But with the spikes up you’re more likely to stab yourself than your opponent. But, yeah, no horse for me either.
I think the GW1 sword is wrong because if you look at the grip the one one wielded in GW1 rounded but the hilt is straight. I wouldn’t hold the rounded part as it would ruin both my grip and balance of the blade and also as above poster said the spikes would also be impractical as they would be in the way of making an actual cut.

Leaving aside obvious gripes with the heft/weight/balance/grip/curve of the entire weapon, the spikes are awesome. Just think about them for a minute. Stab in, twist, get yourself some nice spaghetti. Buh-bye to your opponent’s guts if you hit them mid-body and from the front. Stab only, well, if you apply enough force your opponent now has three holes he’s bleeding from, instead of just the one from the main blade.
I prefer the falcata look it has now.
I don’t care which way your sword curves, I think it looks wonderful just the way it is!

I think it’s weird that they changed it from the previous game, but I wouldn’t recommend changing it this late in. There might be people who like the new version better, and after three years, it seems a little late to rock that boat. If it looked substantially worse than the original, like it was obviously wrong, that might be one thing, but I’d say it looks about the same, just different.

I don’t think that hot blade fits in any sheath.

But to get the spikes into play, you’d have to get the sword as deep as the main blade first. and that thing looks like it could go through an entire person. The guy’s already done for, the spikes are just a bit of salt in the wound. Now with that gw1 sword to the lower gut…ouch lol. But that’s just adding insult to disembowelment.

I do have to say though. that second picture is a bit…oddly positioned lol

When the blade is molten lava, it’ll cut both ways.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

That’s ok, with that exposed heat pressed against their hip they know they can grip it and whip it out whenever they want for fun fun times! \(^o^)/
There are many skins pointing upside-down or from the wrong side (leftside-right?) – mainly bows. I didn’t even consider posting a ticket about it because I know ArenaNet doesn’t have time for simple fixes like that.

Pretty sure that only happens with previews. When the character actually wields the weapon, they hold it in the correct hand. I use a longbow on my ranger, and preview always shows it in their right hand, even though they actually hold it in their left. For symmetrical bows, it doesn’t matter, but it can give a confusing impression on, say, ascended bows, which have a sort of guard on one side.

Bow preview is being fixed
Will the inverted Longbow and Shortbow preview ever be fixed
GM AwesomenessWe have a potential fix for this being tested as of yesterday.
ANet may give it to you.
