Prioritize Maps to Server

I play on Blackgate, and unless I want to show up nearly an hour early for Tequatl, I will get bumped to overflow.

If someone from a server wants to participate in a world boss, they should get priority over someone guesting. I know this will probably never change, just frustrating that I can never get a TTS kill.

A person guesting should get bumped to overflow if someone from the home server wants in.

Home worlders do get priority over guesters… when queued. If a guester gets there first however, prior to being overflowed, they’re first.

Kicking players out of the map who are probably in the middle of something because someone else thinks they deserve the spot more is not an option, and it would be considered griefing – by ArenaNet. If they would do that, why stop there? Why not kick everyone not actively participating in the event. Might as well also kick players who aren’t level 80 and in full ascended. Let’s also give priority to people with the higher /age and achievement points.

You shouldn’t have a problem doing Tequatl in an overflow, assuming you didn’t show up at the last second (because at that point, the main overflows are full).

How is that griefing? It isn’t the server they chose. I chose Blackgate over a year ago, now I have to sit around and wait for 1+ hour if I want to do Teq because my home server is filled with guests. We did have an overflow attempt tonight…I couldn’t even see Teq’s health any longer, but we failed on timer.

One way to fix this is to only allow guesting to be done by people invited by someone on that server.

What Healix said is that if you and someone guesting to your server are both in an overflow and therefore queued for the main map you already do have priority over them. You and everyone else from your server will get in before they do.

But he also said some of the people guesting are also showing up early enough that they’re already in the main map when you start queuing. That is the problem: You can’t be prioritised over them because they’re not in the queue. The only way you could take their spot is if they leave, so the only way Anet could ‘prioritise’ you over them is to kick them out of the map to make room for you. And they’re never going to do that.

But also if you’re on a popular server it may not make any difference. I’m on Desolation which is one of the bigger EU servers and people have to show up well in advance even for normal world bosses. I can’t seriously see that a lot of people are guesting over, but there’s enough people on the server who want to do it that any popular map gets pushed into overflow.
