Profession Balance Goals for the Winter 2016
I don’t mean to be rude, but the balance changes involving nerfs are for classes that need them. Thief and Warrior are very often singled out for being the reason that an spvp match ends in a loss and they’re going to be buffed. There is very minimal information in that post and it shouldn’t be risen against so quickly.
I think that ultimately they either need to balance the monsters so if you play by your self it does not require dying multiple times just to maybe succeed at killing a monster(this is in reference to higher levels and veteran monsters). warriors are boring, the spell casters can’t be played without having some sort of support, and when you look at balance notes the revenant(we’ll be looking to tone down the revenant’s sword damage in some areas and adjust the weapon’s abilities so that it’s less focused on autoattacking and better at singling out and attacking enemies) and the guardian( they’ve been a tad too effective in the areas of burst and disruption) are being “balanced/nerfed” which are the two classes I like to play. the engineer(may look to implement a reduction in survivability). The difficulty I have with this is it forces group play and that is great if you have a huge guild or lots of friends who play, I have neither. on that note guilds as they are now also can only be had if you have lots of players who play together. I don’t join other guilds due to the fact that they always require something (certain days to play and so on), I don’t want the game to become a job. I already have a job. I am sure not all they are doing will be negative, but some how they always seem to downgrade the classes I like to play.
If your goal is casually soloing open world stuff, I don’t think you have too much to worry about.
It’s a strange concept of “balance” to think that skills can get more powerful, but can’t ever become over-powered, even if all you care about is single player. Balancing requires tweaking skill cast times up|down, cooldowns up|down, direct impact up|down, impact over time up|down, etc. Beasts and NPCs and player skills all have to get a look and (in GW1 & 2), all game modes.
tl;dr sometimes skills will get buffed, sometimes debuffed. Learn to accept & adapt to the changes as they come or get ready to be frustrated a lot.
They need to separate pve from pvp once and for all….. I am so tired of my characters traits and skills being rebalanced to fit pvp needs.
