I do not know if this was suggested before, but I think there should be a finisher based on your profession. Eg. Mesmer – Shatter effect? I don’t know. I am pretty sure there are others who can come up with better finisher ideas.

Acquisition: I know gem store is a big profit source for Anet but I think, If this was to be put in the game, it should come with the PvP achievement -Win 150 tournaments as X profession. (eg. Champion Magus title – win 150 tournaments as an elementalist.

I would love to see a ton more cool finishers. This is one area that I would spend hard cash on (yes, there are others, but not a lot). I love having different finishers to use in WvW, but at the moment only use one. I don’t know how much it takes (in time/dollars) for ANet to come up with these, but more… many many more please.

As to the OP’s suggestion, I like it. One thing that bothers me is that my necro doesn’t have anything that to me says “you got pwned by a NECRO”. So ya, cool idea; maybe necro has hounds of hell or something really SCARY/death related. Would be great to hear ideas from others. Also would be good to have it as some sort of achievement in WvW and not just PvP or gem store.

I’d definitely support this even with gems! I don’t really tend to use finishers because they feel a little out of place? Like “Here have an animal jumping on you!”

But profession or even racial finishers would, to me, feel much more fitting! I’d be very interested in a finisher that worked well with my character specifically! Like guardian smiting someone!

Such savings, very Ogden, wow!

I really like this idea.

When GW2 was still in development, I thought we would get profession and race specific finishers, but it wasn’t meant to be.

More finishers!!? They add finishers regularly!

Class specific would be cool, I will admit.

I won’t stop because I can’t stop.

It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….

Like Khattnip said, the flow of combat in PvP will be more fluid! The combat will feel, imo, more complete.

Warrior: Giant sword falls from the sky, impaling the target with such force it creates fiery cracks around the impact site.

Mesmer: Three illusions of the mesmer appear around the target and perform the mesmer’s racial dance before shattering.

Necromancer: A door appears, opens to a green portal, and chains fly to the target, binding and dragging away a ghostly image of the target, then slamming shut.

Engineer: A cannon tunnels from the ground and obscures the target to seem like it is now loaded in said cannon, which then fires.

Ranger: Selected pet and swap pet rush and maul the target.

Thief: Help the target up, then stab them in the back or shoot them with their own weapon.

Guardian: Pillar of light opens on the target, then becomes a pillar of signature colored flames.

Elementalist: Crushed by a boulder, impaled by an ice spear, struck by lightning, and finally drowned in magma rising from a destroyer-style fissure.

And how about racial?

Human: Summon an image of one of the gods (as chosen during character creation, or even just Balthazar) over the target.

Charr: Channel the past and impale the target with a small Searing crystal.

Asura: Deploy Crush-O-Matic 4500, the orbital crushing golem, on the target.

Sylvari: Grow a topiary bush in the shape of an ambient in the zone from the target.

Norn: An image of the Norn’s Spirit of the Wild (as selected during character creation) mauls the target.

YES! I’m so glad someone else got around to mentioning something that has been on my mind for some time now. =)
So, obviously I agree with the idea and desire profession-based finishers as well. I love your thought on how to acquire it, that was something I hadn’t considered yet and makes perfect sense to me because PvP is the place a finisher is most desired and most easily viewed as it goes off. I agree it should be something PvPers can earn. Part of the reason I hadn’t mentioned it yet was wondering how to make it so only a given profession could use it’s finisher – no Necros doing any Ele’s or Thief’s finisher for example.
Racial finishers is another great idea, yet still makes me wonder how would it be best implemented so that you can only activate a Sylvari finisher on a Sylvari and a Norn on a Norn, etc.
I suppose, it could be one finisher and when you use it the game checks your race and then applies the appropriate animation, models, and effects. That might work for the profession one too. Make both a single finisher each that checks for race or profession, whichever is relevant to it, before applying the appropriate look. I think both should be unlocks acquired through a decent amount of PvP, but not so much that an average PvE or WvW player couldn’t get it through playing a little PvP every day if they really wanted it.

@Risa (sorry, on phone so reply editing is a chore)
Easiest way to limit it is to have the prof/racial unlock in the finisher inventory like normal, but have the game disallow “equipping” if the character doesn’t qualify.

@AzureFang Nice ideas, for ranger, my idea was to have three of your selected pet to feed on the body lol.

Glad I’m not alone on this, I’ve always thought class-finishers were available until I knew otherwise. God I would play double the PvP or WvW if this was possible!

I think it’d be a good reward for fishing parts of the personal story maybe? First part for racial and whole thing for class finisher.

How about we get new reviving animations. Why does everyone just rub the guy when they have healing magic?
