Are there any plans to allow us to change our character’s profession via a contract, etc? I’ve got a lvl 80 character that I haven’t played in months, and I’d love to change it to something else…

Yet to see an MMO do this, a Race change would be nice though.

Would be hard since we got the Personal Story.

They could just make you restart it but get no rewards from doing it again.

personal story isnt tied to profession but to race and the mini personal quiz in the character creation.

profession change contract is possible

Profession change is possible, but I feel quite comfortable speculating that it will never happen. The only games I’ve seen allow this typically had class swapping as a major feature, like Final Fantasy 11, or swapping your secondary job in GW1.

Your best bet is to reroll, or just make a new guy and keep the current 80 on the shelf in case something changes about the class in the future that reignites your passion.

Former Guild Wars 2 fan. RIP, ArenaNet’s integrity.

I doubt it will happened. But if it did, anet would make a killing from it what with how often they nerf professions, and people quit x profession and level y profession. A few friends of mine wouldn’t have quit if it didn’t mean having to get ascended gear all over again for a same type of build, just different profession.

ET and proud to be!

I’d like an unlock quest where you can pick up a 2nd profession to level up with the same character.
Armors and weapons still only usable by profession type and level. Keep my same toon yet level up a 2nd prof.

If you play solitaire with only one suit, your game is going to end faster and feel lacking.

Yes, im sure its “hard to implement”

Is it possible and even plausable to think Anet could do this with some work? Yes!

They will do it in the future. Why? cuz that’s how they make money with their crappy gem shop.

Fact: every Thief tells you to “l2p” when the subject is to nerf stealth.

Makes no sense to make such a thing…
Just create a new alt and level it, you can hit from 1 to 80 in a day.

Farming for armor is also simple and fast, can’t see the issue here.

1+1 = potato

You’ll be surprised how big of a factor money is! If enough people want this implemented and they can do it, why not? They’ll make a really nice profit out of it I’m sure of that.

Well, sure, but…

I thought it was like the point in RPGs to make a choice, and then not be able to change race, name, profession over the whole freakin’ place.

I think name change is enough.

Probably wont happen but if you can’t just level another character and get new armor then well, if you switch from say light to heavy you will have to buy new stuff again anyway. Race will not happen though due to racial armor and the story.

We already have a definitive no on race changes.

As for class changes I see no issue with that.

Salix Babylonica (Necro), Tharnath (Guardian), N Faculty (Mesmer),
Occam Pi (Ele), Acaena Elongata (Warrior), Finja Salversdotir (Ranger),
Bytestream (Engineer), Vim Whitespace (Thief)

The point of RPGs might be to make irreversible choices, but the point of companies is to make money.
