The moral of the story is elitists are stupid for using AP as a basis of skill, which makes no sense because I could accrue 10k AP just doing dailies and jumping puzzles and never stepping foot in a dungeon.

thing is, “elitists”, or good players not wanting to spend their free time holding other people´s hands as I would like to call them, do not do that.

I call it “riding on my back”. Thats how it feels, when they all die in 1-st encounter and i have to kill all mobs by myself. Slowly and tediously

Of course, sometimes it’s the elitist that dies first, blames everyone else even if it was them that were just Leeroying, and ragequits. Seen that quite often.

Then maybe the four other scrubs in the party should have melee’d with the “elitist”.

At the same time, and I make this mistake sometimes myself, if in a PUG group that isn’t comfortable meleeing it’s normally better to just camp range with them rather than eating dirt.

There are some new players out there that are good at the game right off the bat. Then there is the majority of newcomers who are not so great.

AP is measurement of knowledge to most of the game. If you see a person with the Dungeon Master title you better believe he or she knows what he/she is doing.

Well, yes that’s how it is. If AP is collected by doing easy content and daily content that proves nothing of how good you are as a player.

I played LoL yesterday and a guy before we started playing said “i’ve played LoL for 3 years..i hope you’re not noobs”..the next thing that happens is he does stupid decisions, either run in solo and die or leave the team and don’t support us with his support abilities and really just blame everyone else. He must really be very ignorant if he haven’t learned anything in those 3 years of playing LoL.

The problem I see in situations like this is that they have a set method of play and thinking that they apply to every match, dungeon, instances, and what have you. Prior to that situation, it worked perfectly, because the people they were with worked in the same manner or worked with that method.

The problems start cropping up when you have someone(s) trying to apply those methods with people that were never part of those moments in the first place. You end up with one guy, or more, looking like they just tried to solo the whole thing when, on their end, it looked like their whole team was just standing around doing it wrong.

The issue is that people think that just because they’ve won it X number of times doing something one way means it will work if applied to everyone else, because all the pieces are the same. That’s just not correct at all and grounds to have a terrible experience.

Just because the pieces have the same shape doesn’t mean they’re part of the same puzzle.

Why skilled players need other skilled players to play is beyond me. It like everyone is carrying eachother.

Yea, it does feel like that right? But then it looks less appealing if you’re going “looking for 4 skilled players to carry me”

~6.7k (?) AP here and I’ve never done:

Explorer Arah (All paths)
Explorer CoF (path 1, 3)
Explorer HotW (All paths)
Explorer Sorrow’s Embrace (All paths)
Story Mode Sorrow’s Embrace
Explorer’s Twilight Arbor (All paths)
Story Mode CoE
Explorer’s CoE (All paths)
2+ Fractals of the Mist

What I have done:
Story Mode AC
Explorer’s AC (all paths)
Story Mode CM
Explorer’s CM (all paths)
Story Mode HotW
Story Mode CoF
Story Mode Arah

Heck, when I went to re-learn the new AC (which was updated like 7 months ago?) just a while back, a guy with 1.8k AP had to guide me through.

Just because you have AP, does not mean you’re a dungeon runner.

I would love to run dungeons, but I have a bit of anxiety when meeting new people.

saying hi and if you’ve never done the dungeon before, asking if someone could guide you is hard for you?

how do you cope in the real world with real people?

Hikikomori

Then again, I was nearing becoming hikikomori yet I feel most comfortable online and am quite capable of puging and playing the game with others. It’s harder for me to interact in person (or even on the phone) than it is online.

I can interact with people fine using VOIP, but I’m not very good with talking to people on phones.

I can interact with people fine with a keyboard, but I’m not very good with talking to people in person.

I’m more than capable of “pugging” also, but it’s when I go defeated (when I shouldn’t have) that I feel like a total noob.

Perhaps you shouldn’t go assuming things in real life? I do well in real life. I have a huge circle of friends, and I even volunteer at a community Hospital, where they tell me I’m very outgoing and definitely a “happy person” always smiling.

I always say “hi” in pugs, it’s just they never talk back, and then that’s when I feel like, “Perhaps they are ignoring me?”

I also always try to ask questions, but then I’m often ignored again, and I get the feeling that they are thinking “why am I wasting time with this total n00blet?”

AP isn’t the end all be all filter or whatever. It tends to be the best bet you’ll get before you see them in action though.

Like if I go do arah via LFG they ask for X AP and/or to link arah gear. That seems fine to me. I’m not some one that requires these things personally, but if you are bothered by these requirements, then just don’t group with them.

If some one is new and others are looking for speed runs, don’t get upset if you are told no because there are 4 other people that don’t want to take the higher risk that you might slow them down. I hope that it’s obvious now that it’s selfish of you to get upset in these situations now since there are 4 other people involved and not just you. Just don’t take it personally, just go find a group that’ll teach you or won’t mind that you don’t have AP. Not like there aren’t plenty of them around.

Mobs prioritize high thoughness builds.

No they don’t. People need to stop spreading this garbage. Almost every mob has different aggro priorities, and even then different skills on each of those mobs will prioritize different conditionals.

There’s a reason why no good teams run an Anchor anymore, let alone AH (in any dungeon).

I went from anchor guardian to berzerker. And now it’s so much easier to play in dungeons/fractals. There’s considerably less pressure from mobs.
I would say toughness is an important factor in aggro calculation.

Or maybe you and/or your party started using blinds, the mobs’ attacks missed and you bursted them down before you ran out of blinds.

Not denying that it is an important factor, but some people think that toughness is the biggest priority, which isn’t always the case.

For example, the Nightmare Vines in Twilight Arbor will focus 1200 range weapons over anything else.

Cookies point wasn’t that toughness isn’t an important factor, his point was that it isn’t as important as some people make it out to be.
