Punished for going back and helping low level players.
You want financial reward for helping low level guildies ? You could always ask them to pay you. Of course they probably wont…but compensation for such a thing shouldn’t fall to ANet.
Just the knowledge you helped them isn’t payment enough ? I know that sounds pretty foofy, but whatever.
Here I go with the waypoints thing again. I have guildies in low level areas who need help, an escort, help on personal stories, ect ect and so on. On my level 80 ranger it costs almost 5 silver for me to go back there. This sure doesnt urge people to go back and do stuff to help lower level players. One night before I realized it, mapping around helping guild members I has spent 50 or so silver. Something has to be done. There needs to be some kind of incintive and finacial reward to counter the costs.
How… i just…. you spent 50 silver? How did you manage to do that? Even when i go to help out friends i have never spent more then 10silver, and even then i ended up MAKING silver….

I cant seem to break 1 gold for having to go back to low areas at 4 silver and 65 copper a pop. Then 1 silver and x copper per map in the zones with them. Im not saying anet should pay us persey, Im saying incintive, like rare drops off the lowbies, crafting materials or something. something better than half your level armor and weapon drops to help pay the fuel bill. I think you may have missed what im trying to say I guess, or I put it wrong. Im not looking for a reward to help, just soemthing in the way of drop incentives to help make up the cost of gear repairs and waypoint mapping.
No i get it. I think however, framing it as you’re being punished is a bit of an overstatement. You should be getting drops from things you are killing, crafting drops, armor, weapons. All can be vendored or sold on the TP. Plus you’re receiving exp towards more skill points.
I see your point, but i cant see how its as bad as you’re making it out to be.
I am not at max level so I don’t know how inconvenient it gets at that point. I do know that for me, I make a point of going to cities and using the asura gates fairly often. Yes, it takes longer, but it saves money; yes, it’s less convenient, but I don’t mind the sense of actually travelling, at least a little bit.
-Go to heart of the mists.
-Take LArch gate.
-Free port to gate wp.
-Take applicable gate that is closest.
-Profit.
I created a “suggestion” topic on this if you’d like to stop by, show your support and/or offer up a critique / suggestion of your own

I have the same issues.
I need to farm just to be able to play with lower level friends. Meh.
While you’re helping your guildmates in a low level zone, you’re still getting loot for your level. You could be selling that loot to earn the money back, or do what a previous poster said and use Lion’s Arch to teleport for free and then walk for a few minutes.
There needs to be some kind of incintive and finacial reward to counter the costs.
It’s called sell the stuff you get because gear at your level drops with enough frequency to actually walk away with more money than when you started while helping lower-level players.
I help lower level guildies all the time. I love it. Out of a good session, the blues and greens I get overpay for my WP costs, and I make some fat bank off of the lower tier mats on the TP.

Since people are going to ignore this person. Here is your answer to high travel costs.

This is a good idea; but how do we bypass the often hour to two hour queue times? This is an honest question; not a trolling one. Am I missing a way around this?

Traveling to the Heart of the Mists has absolutely no queue time whatsoever. Just zone in, use the Asura gates and you are good to go.

If the queue times are excessive use a combination of WP and walking to get to your nearest city, then WP for free to the gate to LA, from LA to the city nearest your lowbie friends, and it should be a short foot slot from there to them.
Mist cost nothing to travel to and have no que time. You’re thinking of the Battlegrounds.
Ahh. So “Mists” is different from the “Battlegrounds”? I had no idea. Assumed by talking to the NPCs they were two in the same.
Not a big fan of PvP in games like this; so totally missed the difference. Thank you very much! Big help.
Heart of the Mists is just a hub area with vendors and training dummies and such.
This one is pretty easy.
Q: IF i’m down leveled to lvl 4, when then am I paying more that I did as a level 4 to travel in and around a lvl 4 zone?
A: Just like the level of the loot you recieve does not scale down, the waypoint cost reamins like that at your “true” level.
This one is pretty easy.

because you can way-point to a level 80 or other higher level area at a level 4 cost would mean people would travel to lowbie zones only to take advantage of the low waypoint fee.
@Andrew 1. I was referring to zoning around a 1-15 lvl zone, not in and out of the zone. My level “4” for the sake of this example, still costs me 10 times the amount of the other lvl 4 players.
@ Grom In a 1-15 lvl zone, the loot is the same un less you’re talking about the Des which are hit fairly hard by the DR quickly.
You don’t have to do content for people to help them.
You can give them advice, explain how the game works, and so on. It’s not like any level appropriate content in this game is so challenging that someone capable would ever need help. Help them be be a better player and it lasts the whole game.
If you want to be able to help people by hopping around the map, make sure you earn enough coin to make the travel costs trivial.
