Hey there,

With regard to gear progression(if there is such a thing, to a point), it kind of just hit me. In order to get your max stat armor set, (ignoring whatever sets you want to transmog into), you have to do one of the following:

Spend by Kharma:
Resource spent: Your time and Kharma

Spend by Gold:
Resource spent: Your gold and crafting mats(that you might ultimately sell on TP to gain more gold).

Spend by Time:
Resource spent: Your time, crafting materials, and gold.

Spend by dungeon Tokens:
Resource spent: Your time

Ultimately, aside from time spent, you will be spending some money or currency to gain these items, correct? So if I did not feel like leveling up a crafting discipline because it looks like a steep hill, and I did not want to spend hours upon hours farming Orr for kharma via the kharma grind, I could theoretically level up other toons to max level, selling off the gatherables as I go. Correct?

However, later on, if I wanted to get a legendary, I’ll need to take up a crafting discipline, correct?

Yes, or buy it from the TP.

Don’t you mean ALL crafting disciplines? Oh, and be a super badkitten in WvW, AND get 200 skill points AND have at least 500k in Karma AND a bunch of other things that most of us are not likely to do ever. I guess that is why they are legendary.

So, I am fully capable of getting the max stat stuff, weapons and gear, with gold(or kharma) less the legendaries.
Correct?

Pretty much. I think you can fully kit yourself out with exotic armor for about 10 gold.

Only 200 sp? I probably have that, if not I will once I finish world completion. That’s a pretty easy achievement.

But the more toons you have at level 80 the more toons you have to kit out in level 80 gear. If you leech all the gains of your other toons and put them into your main, your main might have all exotics, but your other toons will have blues and greens. It would still be faster to play the game with your main in higher level areas than levelling over and over on alts. Either way, both strategies seem repetitive.

I am confused by the 200 sp. Doesn’t the entire map have not much more than that? Do you just need to be at 200 sp or does it actually cost you the skill points?

I made enough gold from finishing every zone except for the three Orr zones to basically purchase a full exotic set. You’re only talking fifteen pieces, excluding the water gear, and I’m discounting the back slot as well because I believe you’re either forced to earn one from dungeon grinding or by purchasing a guild backpack (5g).

Most exotics run 2-3g, except for the base exotics used in crafting legendary weapons, but those base exotics have the same value as other level 80 exotics, and legendary weapons are only slightly more powerful than their base exotic. At worst, you’re grinding for a few more gold at level 80 in order to finish out an exotic set, provided you were relatively spendthrift while leveling.

I am confused by the 200 sp. Doesn’t the entire map have not much more than that? Do you just need to be at 200 sp or does it actually cost you the skill points?

It’s my understanding that you actually spend the skill points, but at the same time you keep gaining experience towards levels at 80, and while your character never goes beyond level 80 you’re still awarded one skill point per “level.”

By the time you are 80, you should already have enough karma for a single temple exotic armor piece.
