So I just got around to watching this weeks Points of Interest (the supposedly PvE ‘show’) and they add a segment basically trying to entice players into pvp.

Is the pvp population hurting so badly that they need that transfusion of warm bodies?
If this isn’t the case are we going to see PvE related balance in Ready Up? I doubt it, but what do you all think of this?

As a player that knows absolutely nothing about PvP, I’m interested in what Hugh has to say. I might actually venture in, someday, depending on how well the lessons go. /shrug

I haven’t seen this week’s PoI, but I see no problem with devs inviting players to try PvP. Some players only focus on one aspect of the game without trying the rest, and you never know… they might actually like PvP.

However, I think they need to rework PvP or do something about it because right now it’s missing complexity and depth, so it might not be enough for hardcore gamers who love the idea of learning new strategies and tactics every day like in other competitive PvP games.

Well then lets just take 5 steps back and look at that stream and the updates from another perspective.

Oh god they are forcing PvE on PvP players every living world update!

Wouldn’t go there with all the balance in the centered around sPvP with little to no concern for WvW or PvE so PvP players can basically ignore the living world. Unless there is some correlation of a drop in PvP activity during the updates.

I would like to see Anet break the skills up, but unlike Guild Wars 1 we have not 2 game modes, but 3 with WvW, sPvP and PvE. I don’t know if I would lump changes to sPvP in with WvW or not.

They only wanted to split skills when absolutely necessary because it makes the game harder to get into for players already accustomed with the other mode.

SPvP is meant to be a separate mode, not affected by PvE.
WvW is meant to be casual and somewhat unfair.

I understand why they haven’t made the changes. But it ended up being a good thing in Guild Wars 1. Balance was a huge issue for certain skills until they made the decision to split them. I am sure the developers have a good reason for the choice they have made. Even if its not apparent to us.

have not watched it yet, but if so, I am extremely disappointed that they would be pushing pvp under these current profession and combat designs instead of improving these two main areas first.

They just need to make new pvp maps if they want more people to play pvp. People are not attracted to game modes that are no longer evolving.
