Put the patch notice in forum announcements
Even if they put the patch notes right in front of peoples noses in game, people would just click it off and ask in map chat rather than read it. My point is that even if they put in a big notice on the front page of the forums, only the forum users will be the ones to see it, and the forum users aren’t usually the ones asking those questions in-game.
I would imagine that most people who regularly play the game check the patch notes link on their sign in screen, or hear about it from their guildmates. I would imagine that there is a very small number of people who actually check the patch notes from this forum.
Mmo players with a screw loose vs mmo players with two screws loose. All very important stuff.

It’s still a way of ensuring that more people can see it, or at least that more people know when there’s been a patch. Obviously it makes little difference to those who already read the patch notes and it only affects those who go on the forums – but I still think it would be nice to have the announcements column actually used to show people when there’s been a patch.
Didn’t they start off doing this and then sort of…..stop?
I’d like to see patch notes be more thorough, first. It is bizarre to me how incomplete they always seem to be.

Because we can’t be angry about both?
There already is a forum for Patch Notes…and whenever it is updated, it changes from greyed-out (if you have previously read it) to black. And it sits directly below the Announcement sub-forum.
I’m not sure what difference it would make moving it to a different sub-forum.
Now, if you are suggesting it be given the ‘Big Red Splash’ treatment that ‘Announcements’ gets, I suppose they could do that. Though, I would hope we, as a playerbase, consider ourselves bright enough to see that there are new patch notes when the, as stated above, sub-forum has new posts.

I don’t recall suggesting it be moved to a subforum… I’m not talking about moving the patch notes, I’m talking about utilising the “announcements” box on the front page of the forums that is frequently empty for having a link to the latest patch notes.
With a lot of the new LS releases Anet have started putting subsequent patches/bug fixes underneath the initial release – even if they’re days afterwards – so it isn’t always obvious that something has been patched and people miss them.
I suppose the big red splash that ‘Announcements’ gets could be utilized for patch notes, as I already stated.
Still, unless one never visits the front page of the forums, it’s hard to miss that the Patch Notes threads/sub-forum has been updated. I thought players were unhappy that the game is being ‘dumbed-down’, as they call it. Would they be happier with the forum being ‘dumbed-down’, as well, I wonder?
Either way, good luck with your suggestion. =)
