One thing people complain about is the lack of people out in the world outside of Living World events.

It made me realise to keep people out in the world Anet simply need to add the act of hostility in Tyria. Outside of WvW.

There needs to be more focus on guilds themselves and guilds going against each other.

GUILD WARS needs to work more like EVE online. In eve you have corporations (guilds) that can select other guilds and start war against them. Guilds who are friends can form alliances, and alliances can go to war against other alliances.

I think this kind of thing would be extremely easy to implement and would do wonders for the game.

It would introduce a new Pie Chart system like WvW simply called “War Effort”. Guild points gained would add to your guilds percentage of the war effort. The more points you have the higher your guild goes up in the rankings. Other guilds above or below you in the ladder can challenge you for your spot, causing a week long war. The pie chart would be split into alliances, the alliances would then be split into guilds and their war effort.

Here are several GUILD related game modes we could have which would all reward points and war effort.

Once you are AT WAR with a guild or an alliance these things would become avaliable.

FRACTAL WARS : Two parties from two separate guilds would run fractals at the same time, the guild to finish in the fastest time wins. There would be some sort of guild rank point and some form of ladder. Guild reward system and guild points.

DUNGEON WARS: Same as above but with dungeons.

GUILD WARS IN TYRIA : Guilds and alliances at war would be forever hostile and “attackable” out in the open world. The “at war” option would have to be accepted by both guilds, if you felt like you were being griefed or camped you can simply “leave guild” or “surrender”. Doing so would give winning guild some sort of point increase or if you personally didn’t enjoy that aspect you could leave the guild, thus not making you feel forced to play n extreme guild mode. Player kills in the open world would shift the balances of “War effort” and add points to either side. Events n the world compete as a guild would add guild points to the war effort. This would also make guilds fight over event points.

GvG WVW : Guilds at war in WvW would gain guild points for their war effort for claiming keeps towers and camps that were claimed by opposing guilds at war, player kills to opposing guilds would add war effort points.

ARENA WARS : 2v2 , 3v3 and 5v5 arena s pvp matches vs other guilds. There would be a new lobby system in pvp where people would have options to queue against other teams, when a team comes across an opposing alliance/guild they are awarded War Glory which adds to the war effort.

DUEL WARS : 1v1 versus opposing guild members. Awards war glory and war effort.

There would be trainable temporary guild perks that would cost war effort but would buff versus opposing guild.

Here are just a few ideas that would really spice the game up and really send it to a epic level. I hope you guys enjoy.

I like your ideas, but why not add Guild Keeps into the equation? Your guild would fight against another guild, and you would each have a “Guild Keep” or a “Guild Castle”. The goal would be to lay siege to each other’s keeps by building WvW-like Siege Engines to knock down the front outer gate of the keep. Once inside, you would destroy two power crystals – one to the left, and one to the right. Take a look at the attached picture below. The green arrows are where the crystals would be located. After destroying those crystals, the inner gate, (with the red arrow pointing to it), would disintegrate or fall down. Once inside the center of the keep, you would need to destroy the mega-crystal, which lies directly in the center and powers the entire magical essence of the castle. Destroy that, and the castle will crumble, and you will be victorious!

All of this would occur while players from opposite guilds strategically kill each other off. Now, to prevent players from spawning in their castle and killing invading guild members too quickly, each death you receive will give you an extra 10 second wait time on top of the original 15 seconds to spawn. The spawn time will cap at 2 minutes to give teams a chance to penetrate the keep’s gates.

Imagine the strategy that would take place if this were actually an event in this game. I could imagine guilds leaving behind defenders while appointing players that would lay siege to the castle. I could imagine the guild leader appointing lookouts on all four corners of the castle to ensure there wasn’t an ambush taking place, or scouts that would be sent into the forest at the halfway point between castles that would look for an approaching enemy or siege weapon.

Sounds like a horrible idea. The Guild Wars happened in a state of unease between split nations of men. Those events only ended when Charr invaded and crazy humans went to extremes to destroy their invading foe (first with the Foefire, then with the Cataclysm).

But since that time humans have been pushed back into the far corners of the lands thanks to Centaurs, Bandits, creatures….oh, and a tiny little thing known as Elder Dragons. The Krytan kingdom is but a paltry piece of what it once was.

Enough about humans, let’s look at the other races: Charr are spending day and night fighting Ghosts of the Foefire fallout (i.e. Ascallon), remainders of the Flame Legion, and minions of Kralkatorrik. They’ve also drawn a peace treaty with 10yr reigning Queen Jenna, from which they were previously at war. Norn have been push much south thanks to Jormag and his vile filth (they even lost 3 of their revered Spirits in their retreat). Asura were completely pushed out of their …5 (?) cities underground by Primordus, so they have lots to deal with on being surface dwellers. And the Sylvari, they’re young saplings of max 25 years old with little understanding of the world; and add to that their morals are split between following a Centaur’s tablet with Dream or falling with the Nightmares.

Okay, take all the above rambling and put that every race is in a periled fight with inter-territorial conflicts as well as Elder Dragon woes. Enter the cackling Scarlet! Now we have an additional powered threat against all the races in Tyria besides just the Elder Dragons: a ‘twig that has snapped’ and wants pure chaos throughout.

What’s my point and where am I getting at? All the 5 major races of Tyria -and at point quite a few of the lesser ones too- have gotten together to fight threats throughout the land. There’s no room for any more inner national conflicts such as Guild Wars. Those are illogical In These Dragon Filled Times.

TLDR Subtext: GW2 is meant to be friendly to those on your server and to avoid conflict with them. Instead, you fight the other servers (think alternate reality, like each one is another dimension) through WvW, or you have friendly sparing matches in the regenerative Mists via sPvP.

So, the only choices are leave your guild and play solo, or be subject to being ganked? I think it needs more thought. I am afraid that’s not very appealing to me.

I believe somewhere it was stated that Guild Wars was named for what was occurring at the time in lore. Guild Wars 2 is after. The only reason it’s still called Guild Wars is because of lore. Not because of GvG

The war declarations need to be mutual. Just as in my suggestion.

Worked extremely well in UO after Trammel was introduced. Had very nice fights against guilds that we wanted to fight without fear of being molested by dkheads.
