PvE - Suggestions for Lvl40+?
Hit up a different zone. Try to keep your level below whats in the zone for faster leveling.
And crafting on the side should speed things up as well.
Have you gone to any other starting zones? If not, that would be a pretty good option. This includes the variety of 15-25 areas, as well as any other areas that are below your level that you’ve yet to wander around in.
Also, with the amount of time you get to play, WvW may not be a good choice, unless your server is dominating or has an active WvW population.

“Quaggan’s a piwate! Yarr!” – “Pirate”
I noticed a dip in speed around that same time when I was leveling.
As Esham said, crafting would be an easy way to boost your leveling speed.
You may want to spend a night or two in pure “explorer” mode as well. Hunt down all of the points of interests and vistas in the zone.
Also, remember you can backtrack without a significant penalty to XP earned. Did you skip any hearts or areas with major dynamic events while leveling thus far? Go back and explore in those areas some more. I found this to be pretty fun – finding an area I enjoyed and putting extra effort in that particular zone.
You shouldn’t have trouble leveling by exploring. My Guardian got to 65 and I was only beginning to explore 50-60 maps. Make sure to explore other areas, not just where your story quest sends you to.
Dynamic events are meant to provide a large amount of the open-world advancement. When you find a dynamic event in progress, join in. When an event ends, stick around and see whether the NPCs talk / move, because they will probably kick off another dynamic event in a chain.
Everything you do in the game provides experience, so try doing more variety. Explore, harvest (yes it gives experience), craft if you enjoy that (gives tons of experience), do some personal story.
As the game progresses, it becomes less and less directed. This is not intended to be an experience on rails where you are lead around from one area or “hub” to the next. They provide some of that in the earlier levels, but the more you level up, the more the game focuses on exploration / discovery and variety. Self-directed play can be a beautiful thing if you get immersed in the world and just wander.
You can buy XP boosters from the gem store and there also guild xp buffs
Hey I also wanted to add, if you run wvwvw there’s potential for massive XP gains from fragfests and chain events.
For example, if your server possesses garrison, and it’s constantly under attack, there are several chain events (Defend the Keep, Repel the Attackers) that merit large sums of XP and are repeated everytime it’s attacked, which happens a lot in wvwvw.
I found events to be a lot better than hearts in terms of leveling. I’m afraid you’re compelled to do the hearts for zone completion, however. So ignoring the hearts will speed you up, but then you’ll feel like you have to go back to them later.
WvW can be absolutely the fastest leveling in the game. It can also be nearly a complete waste, depending on what you do there.
For pve, there ARE more areas than you can possibly do before hitting 80.
For the O.P. around your level there’s Fields of Ruins and Blazeridge Steppes and Lornar’s Pass and Dredgehaunt cliffs, and of course move on to Bloodtide coast.
Blazeridge steps is perfect for your level.
Also, use this, its faster.

Hearts are not really there to level you, think of them as guides (level 45 heart? cool I’m 45 I can play in this area)
Leveling comes from doing events and killing mobs (yes, sometime you actually have to kill mobs not just run past them), gathering mats (crafting helps but if not interested just sell everything in the TP )
