I’m just curious as to what the most difficult bosses or mobs are in GW2.

I haven’t been playing for ages, but this is how I would sum up most fights when in a group.

1. Turn up
2. Spam dps skills
3. Avoid maybe one or two attacks, equip a few remove condition skills depending on mob.
4. Roll around if targeted
5. Spam dps skills
6. Die, get revived in a second by 2 or so people quickly tapping F.
7. Don’t say a word during the entire thing.
8. Faceroll to victory

The 8 orbs achievement for Liadri is probably the hardest thing I’ve come across in the game. There isn’t a whole lot of challenging content.

PvE is a community event, very rarely is it challenging in most games. I don’t think people play it for a challenge, because if this was true then every game would be difficult. It just simply does not make sense to make a game very challenging to the point where it becomes a chore to play it.

PvE is fun because you can group with your friends and achieve something together, if you want something more challenging you can try fractals or PvP.

Everyone knows the real challenge in PvE is how bad everyone else around you is.

Or lately… how badly they’d rather farm than succeed.

Jumping puzzles can be hard — not that they’re impossible to do, but getting timing and position right can take a number of tries; I find them fun. If you do them repeatedly, this gets boring, but it’s fun to go through them from time to time.

The gauntlet, and some other skill based challenges in Living World, are intended to include hard content. Most PvE isn’t because too many people get discouraged at failure… and the point of the game is to be fun. It’s hard to mix the right level of difficulty for everyone without leaving less skilled players unhappy, but GW2 does an OK job IMO.

OTOH, I haven’t finished Liandri yet, so probably I qualify as less skilled. :-p

Try making a new alt and going to areas a lot higher level than you are. You will notice things get hard. 1st your attacks will glance every hit, you will be 1 hit eventually. Not only that but mobs seem to notice and chase you from halfway across the map! I’m serious, you enter an area and you will have every mob you can see chase you right away!

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?

You can always solo dungeons if you want some challenge.

I have been playing since the beta, and you have pretty much got it in one.

Make a new alt…… Boring same boring content and play style.
Jumping puzzles…. Hate them.
Community event……. What community.
Fractals and dungeons….. Rangers not welcome.
The gauntlet…… Quite fun.
Living world…….. Quite fun, but events are now too long and too much waiting.
The 8 orb thing……… Too hard for me.

Jumping puzzles, love them or hate them, I hate them. Thread killer.

Where did I say “fun”? The op was asking for something “challenging”.

High-level Fractals are decently challenging.
Everything else is clearly not there for challenge, sadly.

Solo a few Vet Karkas at one time. Make sure you get one of the “Lays eggs. Immobilizes” and one of the “Transfers Conditions” ones. Toss in a third one that aggros while fighting the first two because of their huge aggro radius.

Fun times.

High-Level fractals aren’t challenging, they just required you to have certain amount of AR otherwise you can’t beat the last boss. Anet doesn’t want to add additional AR into the game because people would faceroll fractals as well.
