They want GW2 PvP to be an Esport. That’s it.

Anet is probably on its last leg on supporting their e-sports crusade.
I’d say WTS is more about GW2 trying to advertise and gets its name out.

I doubt it gets much more attention after this year when they realize how little GW2 sPvP tourneys are watched.

Tournament of Legends peaked under 5k viewers… biggest tourney for GW2 and it couldn’t even beat 1 pvp stream on Runescape.

Now i’m sure WTS will be bigger, but the facts are real – GW2 E-sports is NOT happening. I think anet knows this, but they are just trying to adverstise as much as possible. They got their name out their in the MMOsphere for PvE with articles and websites and guys like WoodenPotato but they need to continue putting out the gw2 brand in the PvP community in hopes for new players.

But it’s dying. BLUE42 was the one thing going in terms of hyping PvP, especially on twitch. But even he left the gw2 pvp scene because this was a lost cause…

the sPvP community is stale and theres nothing new from last year tourneys. Its just going to be the same teams duking it out. There is no new up and coming team because theres hardly any NEW players coming into gw2 pvp scene. Its just in free fall right now.

We are an interesting bunch. We play the game, we get emotionally invested, and we want to offer advice / demand changes that we feel will improve the game. And the current question is “is ANET spending our money properly?”

If I were an equity holder, I would properly have a “my money” opinion. But as a consumer I think my proper question is “am I getting my money’s worth?” It’s similar to the guys who gripe about the game but continue playing. If you’re not getting your money’s worth of “fun” from GW, just don’t play.

Now I sure don’t want the game to disappear because players leave. And I want ANET to keep new players coming. ANET has to keep working at the player base, keep current players happy and attract new players. I sure don’t know the details of how to do that. I wish we could see ads on TV about GW2 like we do the smart phone games. I want the GW2 community to be large. But I don’t have the insider view to know how to do that.

(I play PvE. I don’t like the idea of playing against other players, I want to play with them. I like Fractals, I don’t like Dungeons. There are others who play like I do, and there are players that don’t. It’s all good. )
