"PvE classes" in a "PvP game"
Sorry I would like to elaborate a bit…. lets take pinnacle of a PvP MMO ever being released on a market – DAOC. Certain classes absolutely sucked in PvE while being quite unique in PvP(infis, shadowblades… having quite a fullfilled role in certain kinds of PvP) while Certain other classes excelled in PvE(nurture Druids) and sucked in PvP as a result(aside from being a buffbot). Seeing how GW2 central end-game relies heavily on PvP is there really a need for strong PvE classes that don’t really perform much in end-game PvP(ie defence warrior in a 5v5… please find me any other class that wouldn’t replace this one in 5v5 sPvP to make one’s team better).
End game is heavily focused on PvP if you want it to be. I personally don’t PvP much and I’m enjoying my end game. PVE is still fun to me and will remain.
that’s what balancing is for. every GW1 profession has been viable in all PvP formats for at least once in GW1’s lifetime. i don’t see any reason why it won’t be the same case here.
The "end game " is whatever an individual wants it to be .You cant really say one class is a PvP class and one is PvE class either , its more about how well an individual understands their class and decides to play it . For example most people thought the GW1 Mesmer was only good in PvP and sucked in PvE and I could prove them wrong every single time even when it was just Proph.
Which class for example is pve focused? I find myself kicking every class and getting kicked by every class. There are certain skills that its just ridiculous to use in pvp, as the same for pve, but you cant make everything for everything, its pretty obvious.
I personally dislike the pvp in this game (and I know there are many people that don’t like pvp in any game lol); so I don’t know why you would go saying that its mostly about the pvp…
There is no such thing as GW2 or classes being “focused on PvP” or “based on PvP”.
You play how you want.
Seriously name a class that is useless in pve or pvp.
I don’t get what you mean.
Im a thief, this is a profession that’s supposed to be PVP yes?
Yet when I PVE, I provide massive protection to my allies by blinding everything each time I go stealth, I also do quite a decent amount of DPS vs a single target or multiple targets depending on when I use daggers or a bow.
I don’t get how im not contributing to my team :|
I really wouldn’t call pvp end-game in GW2 because you can start it just minutes after character creation.
Absolutely, with no doubt at all, there are some professions that are very weak in pvp (elementalist comes to mind as the worst, but basically anyone who’s not a mesmer warrior guardian or thief).
It’s got nothing to do with end game, cuz GW2 the endgame is the start-game, especially in pvp. You could play 1000 hours and your character will be no different from its first hour.
I don’t get what you mean.

You are contributing to a team, no matter which team you’re on. Thief is awesome in both areas.
An elementalist or necro, for example, does fine in pve, but doesn’t contribute nearly as much as a mesmer in pvp.
