PvP chests devalue green items
Isn’t chest farm devalue green items more?
Then it can be addressed as well no?
Have you ever been to The Silverwastes? Went there for two week to mass farm that ugly luminescent armor and I’m never going back simply cause I was literally killing myself trying to get rid of all the loot you get there. Hundreds and hundreds of bags that reveal hundreds and hundreds of blue, greens, and rares which salvage into hundred and hundreds of luck and materials. PvP dumps a lot of crap on you but it’s definitely not devaluing anything.
Being a noob i havent been to Silverwastes. But you see, you were specifically farming while sPvP dumps it on you for doing the stuff you like to do for fun like most ppl do.
And it in no way invalidates the question of rarity curve being wicked with whites being rarer than blues being rarer than greens.

who even sells them on tp?
i am annoyed by having to sell the tons of rares already…
and you get even more greens in PvE by doing dungeonruns
just salvage every green item

Greens aren’t supposed to be even remotely rare at level 80. That’s why there’s three stages of gear above them. Although it’s kinda weird that greens are the most common type of junk due to champ bags, this isn’t a problem at all, and it certainly doesn’t deserve immediate attention.

Nearly all white, blue and green items on the tp are traded for their salvage value, not their crafting value.
Even most of rare and exotic items are traded for salvage rather, rather than crafting value, with the exception of unique skins, collections items and some weapon types, who have a higher value (rare and exotic) than salvage value because they are used to forge precursors.
Edit: Most people assume that a rarity curve for value should exist, just like they think the value of kitten mats should be ascending and there should be value parity between mats of the same tiers.
While its natural to believe so, it isnt neccessary from an economic point of view.

The issue is that when push comes to shove, the economy is going to be driven by the farmers. The trickle that comes from PvP rewards is simply a drop in the ocean compared to what the farmers get. It means that PvP at least has some reward that stops PvP being wasted time where a mostly PvE player is concerned.
It’s also worth noting that greens have been barely over the merchant price since not long after release (before sPvP had any PvE-relevant rewards at all), except for greens with max levels lower than the minimum for rares. There was a temporary uptick in value when luck was introduced, but that didn’t last long before prices started settling back to merch values. I think ArenaNet has now basically given up on whites to greens actually being worth anything (and the price of rares is often pretty much pegged to the ectoplasm price…)
The greens awarded through sPvP just aren’t a factor.
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.
I see. That means the problem of oversaturation with higher rarities was inherent. The Diablo 3 legendary shower syndrome. They had to make ancient legendaries to have a legendary that isnt an immediate salvage scrap. The last game where rares were actually rare was D2 it seems. Or was it Titan Quest?
PvP reward chests should not have any blue or green items at all as reward..
The whole reward tracks shoudl get overworked to provide better and more overall interesting rewards, than these blue and green junk loot

No, your example is not good. Noone is allowed to touch my 3 weapon boxes, 1 armor box and xxx tokens each track!
(It’s the only way how I get my dungeon collector achievement for 3 dungeons, because seriously who wants to spend time in arah, caudecus or hotw.)
Edit: I re-read again, I still only see 2 weapon/armor chests?

bomber, first read, then talk … i changed absolutely nothing on these box rewards ..so you can still earn the skins for the achievements with pvp …/facepalm
PS: in fact, i even improved it by allowign you ber track to either earn 3 weapons, or 3 armor parts, instead of earning 3 weapons and only 1 armor part, thus under my solution earnign all the skins would go practically faster
PS: i also changed nothing on the Tokens..you’d still earn 240 tokens for a run on a track ..rolleyes

Which higher rarity items are oversaturated to a degree that they are less valuable than their lower rarity counterparts?

PvP chests are NOT the reason greens are low value…
Greens are low value cause they salvage into the common mats and drop very often from various sources including bags, chests and everything else in the game.
copper-fed-salvage-o-matic is your friend. get one.
also, none of you guys seem to realize just how much gold you are throwing away by vendoring greens. and the dude that vendored yellows ……
LOL just LOL
i do not understand how you can possibly not see all the multiplicative mechanisms in this game to help you get gold, ascended, hell, once you grasp these concepts you can even just outright buy your legendaries. I actually know people that have done that, bought all their legends and are still sitting on few k gold. i’m personally not in that camp cause i prefer to have all my alts in ascended gear of various stat combos and rune / sigil sets instead and i don’t horde beyond few hundred at a time.
when you farm silverwastes, or anything else in the game, be it spvp, dungeons, whatever, you will be eitehr a player that makes a very measly 10-20g / hour IN silverwastes, or a player who realizes your gold is not made in silverwastes, but outside of it, from what you obtain in silverwastes.
anytime you vendor greens or yellows you’re throwing gold away. L2P and take advantage of the in-game economics and all available mechanics instead.
Comparing gear grind games to the Guild Wars series may not be the best approach.
GW isn’t about getting better loot, it’s about making your good (exotic) or end gear look pretty.
Simply merch or have an infinite salvage kit ready to go…

I just carry around 2 kits(actually 5 but two almost never gets used and the other is just for salvaging rares).
I play sPvP and get so many greens that i no longer bother to sell them on TP for measly coppers they cost and just mass salvage or toilet them for lulz.
You get more money if you salvage them and then TP the mats though. Or at least from my experience.
It depends. Power weapons and jewelry sell for more than their salvage because everyone needs them.
