Guild Wars 2

So I haven’t played GW2 in a long time, but today I really wanted to play it. So I tried to log on, but it didn’t work. So I reset my password and logged on, and saw something that surprised me.

When I played last time, I created a Norn Male, who I managed to get to level 8 before taking my long break. But, when I logged on today, I had another character that were created on my account. A level 63 Asura. I was kinda surprised to see that someone had hacked my GW2 account and used it to level up a character that high before I noticed it.

So my question is:
Should I report this to the GW2 support team, or should I just move on and forget about it? If there is anyway they can punish the hacker, I would gladly let the support team know about this incident.

Umm first off you should definitely change your PW on both your account and email address. Because regardless of how super secret your password was, it isn’t anymore.

Second of all, you should google AVG Free or Avast Virus Protection Free and download 1 or the other. Download Malware Bytes as well because you may have a breach in security or something that lead to your acc info being stolen.

And yes, you should absolutely tell ArenaNet about it with a support ticket. They can see what IP logged on to your account and basically see all your account activity to try their best to ensure that it doesn’t happen again.

If you think your account has been compromised it is always a good idea to notify Anet. Although it is weird that someone would hack your account just to level a character they may have done something else against ToS that might cause you a problem.

I am 100% sure that someone I know haven’t used my account. My password has always been a secret, and someone must have done some sort of hacking to obtain it.

Your ‘other character’ may have been reported for botting, scamming, exploiting, hacking, etc. At any time, you could find your account banned for such offenses. You should definitely contact Customer Support. And immediately change all your passwords.

You sure you didnt use the same passwort / account name on lets say another (less secure) website / forum? Maybe even you e-mail account?

Thats how they usually get to your mmo accounts, hack a weaker forum and take your account details from there.
