With all this talk about the future of Guild Wars 2, I welcome the new bi-monthly content updates. And because Colin said they haven’t ruled out any expansion, perhaps it’s time to talk about something near and dear to our hearts.

Quaggans. More specifically, playing as a quaggan race. Running around LA with my quaggan tonic just doesn’t cut it. I want to be hacking monsters and WvW players using my D/D quaggan thief.

Quaggans aren’t just your cute GW2 mascot. They have shown their capabilities as a playable race, as through NPCs who fight along side you, and as a target in the Guild Bounty list of enemies. You could compare them to the mechanics of an asura. Both would be short characters, yet are capable in fights. Animation styles would be similar too, with both asuran’s and quaggan’s movement sort of “waddle running”. As for their background, quaggans already have a culture and lore we learned about through gameplay, and could easily be expanded to create a Personal Story mode for them. And finally, it would be a great way to recognize the work of Kekai Kotaki, the artist who designed quaggans in the first place.

Quaggan a are considered one of the lesser races, just like Skritt, Ogres, and Kodan. They’ll never be a playable race, sorry I disappoint.

The Tengu, however, aren’t considered a lesser race. This has been discussed and widely accepted as the next playable race (if any)

Canthan quaggans are able to suppress their inner rage, allowing them to remain calm, all while killing a World Invader.

With that said, Anet could create a whole new mechanic for them. A “rage meter”, where the more they kill, the meter fills up. And then when the meter is full, they’re stuck in “Zerker mode” for a short time, with increased Power, Precision, and Crit %.

Of all races you listed, the Kodan would seem more of a playable race than the Norn.
