A guildie just told me that because ectos aren’t on the same table as “rare” materials that you can use a basic salvage kit and and still have the .9% chance to get an ecto from rare items. Is this true? Does someone have a link to hard evidence?

ectos are rare, salvage items that increase rarity of salvaged stuff will affect the chances to get ectos.

From experimentation Master kits will harvest about 0.9 ectos on average while BL kits which cost gems will harvest about 1.25 ectos. I don’t remember if anyone gathered data on the lesser kits.

Your guildy is wrong. You will get significantly less ectoplasm on a basic salvage kit versus a masters.

salvage kits get more expensive relative to their chance of getting rare materials. The basic salvage kit, as per its description has a much lower chance to get any rare materials at all. Therefore the chance of getting ecto’s is per definition lower.

Perhaps the chance to get ecto’s compared to other rare materials is the same ratio but the chance to get rare materials at all is definitely lower with a basic salvage kit.

It’s a game forum. The truth is not to be found here.
