Positive compliments:

A) I like the gem skins. Compared to RNG fused chest, I’ll fork out 10 dollars as support for free story content as well.

B) Various changes to PvP which is more positive, I think I see more buffs than nerfs this time.

C) Adjustments to WvW.

D) More polish and fixes.

E) No RNG skin tickets. Oh my god.

Negative criticisms:

A) Crystalline dust still expensive as ever. This mat influences the entire T6 mats upgrade. It is understandable that the T6 mats should drop rarely, but there should be at least a reduction to the upgrading formula of others, I.E, 1 crystalline dust OR 5 crystals (Mystic forge upgrading of crystalline dust VS T6 mats upgrade).

B) DR on lvl 80s map. After 6-7 months, where botters are significantly eliminated, I’m starting to wish that there’s less of a DR.

C) Scaled DE rewards. Exploring the world at level 80 should give lvl 80 DE rewards instead of a cap. This should encourage players to explore the world.

D) Dungeon rewards – FOTM, Arah compared to COF p1 is…

E) Introducing more recipes might be good, especially unused mats.

I rate this patch 8/10. What’s your rating?

I would rate this patch 10/10 excellent.

Why?

1) A real new Dungeon. A good one too one with excellent encounters that are not that easy and need good movement abilities and some coordination

2) Finally a well made Skin for something that is NOT in a kittening RNG lockbox. This is a fundamental improvement. I want skins that I can buy for a certain amount of gems and not just a chance for nothing in stupid lockboxes

3) Good class changes all around

4) New item stat combination and cooking recipes

5) JETPACK!!!!! i can not stress this enough. Once i scrap together all the money I can get my Asura Engineer is getting one (when you are on it can we please have our kit backpacks set to the default one we war in some options PLEASE!)

We got a couple good dungeon encounters, but they’re temporary and there’s little incentive to keep repeating them. We got some very small bits of progress towards making the ranger worthwhile in PvE and have the ill-conceived thief revealed nerf reverted, but it’s been replaced by an equally ill-conceived elementalist Ride The Lightning nerf. The new gem store quiver is really cool, but has massive back placement issues. Fused Gauntlets are decent, but they’re unbelievably alt-unfriendly with their once per account ever limitation.

For everything good, there’s something bad. 5/10.

Most of the changes were positive. Few changes felt unnecessarily too much (eg. confusion, Ride the Lightning).

Unfortunately not much additional permanent content.

5/10. The reason? Anet made open world events a PITA to do since they added super Veterens that more Champions, like in the vent events in Wayfairer and Diessa. These new super vets can 2 shot you faster than you can say “oh kitten!” And they’re dam all hard to kill. Plus, in the Cursed Shore events there’s now Veteren HATCHLINGS! Now I agree that events shouldn’t be easy, but when 7 players get wiped in only a few seconds by these super Vets that’s bull. I’ve paid more in repair costs just today in these events than I did in the 2 weeks before this patch.

Hard content is what the dungeons are for, we shouldn’t have to be in a huge group just to do open world events!

Well let’s see.

Positives:
1:They fixed the tool tip for Superior Rune of Water.
2: The New Back Items are like HoM Skin stones. Which means when I find that Exotic Back piece I will be Set.

Negatives:
1:They didn’t fix the Second bonus for Superior Rune of Water
2: The New back Items require Guild Commendations. Something I’ll never be able to get, due to me having the worldest Smittest Social skills. Honestly They Couldn’t make to where they Cost 5G alone? Maybe make it to where they’re cheaper with Guild Commendations.

All in all 5/10. Half good. Half bad. Most stuff was just bunk. I was really looking forward to those back pieces.

I am mostly a WvWvW player and playing EU, so my reply is gonna be biased based on that:

The siege buffs, especially arrow cart buffs, were unwanted and the +80% damage increase was totally overpowered. The 30 s delay before the attack is shown was also an unwise change, hurting that side which has less players (if you have just 3 people on the map, you cannot spread them much!). I think big enemy zergs should automatically show on the map even if they don’t attack any structure. The WvWvW changes are game breaking and gonna make night capping even more powerful. Almost impossible to take back the towers and keeps if the enemy upgrades them fully during the time you slept.

No huge changes to pve. Rangers, warriors, guardians and thieves got loads of buffs. Guardians and warriors seem to be the most popular professions in my server, so “logically” those professions needed buffs. I expect to see even more of them and thieves in WvWvW.

Engineer is only profession, which was once again hit with the mega nerf together with elementalist, which suffered less (elemental summons now got more viable and elementalist damage actually got slightly up with e.g. signet of fire buff). 50% dmg reduction to confusion, cloaking device and low health response traits nerfed. Elixir S is now almost useless utility skill with 60 s cooldown. And what did engis got in return? A totally useless healing turret “update”. You know it will last <2 s in WvWvW (any siege or AoE will destroy the turret).

I haven’t bothered to play spvp for a long time. And all these changes make me want to try it less.

I got level 80 ranger as well, might try it in pve to see if I can solo all the champions in the game with the newly buffed pets and signets. So far almost every champion in the game is soloable (tried with warrior and engineer, some with my level 80 elementalist as well).

3/10

Superior Rune of Water’s second bonus is not broken, I gives +15% Boon duration. Superior Rune of Sanctuary however displays +20% Chill Duration when it is believed that it is supposed to also be +15% Boon Duration (as that is what the minor and major versions have).

I liked the new dungeon, not overly difficult and the final bosses were fun.
Like the look of the new banners, not sure if I would spend commendations on them however, as they are essentially just a ‘look’ and have no stats on them.
I like the fused gauntlets, trying to find a colour scheme that works with it ATM.

Don’t like the new weapon skins in the gem store, what is there problem with not putting out Hammer skins?!

8/10 for me.

Only 2 things spoiled it for me, personally…

1) Another round of nerfing, Anet calls it balancing but its nerfing no mistake…

2) The temporary nature of the content, temporary is great for holiday events but all the other new conent should aim to leave permenant, repeat playable content behind…the game will get bigger and better…with a huge variety of activities to do…

4/10…

A new dungeon, sounds awesome… but its temporarely, which i dont like so… Nope!

No real changes to the necro. Just some tooltip changes, cmon Anet!

No new skins i can have for my necro… Just the mace, shield, bow and backpiece, but i already have my quaggan.

So, IMO… Pretty bad patch. They should stop with the temporarely content kitten. This game is not progressing if they keep doing this. 8 months in ALMOST the same content as release

I’d give it an 8 out of 10. Partly because of my own expectations, though.

I really like the dungeon. I love the new bow and quiver in the gem store. Not so loving the new baby animal minis coming out once per week. I’m not sure about the deal with this stuff. I mean it doesn’t count for the achievement (which is shouldn’t). I’m thinking Anet needs to do something to make mini’s more viable. Do something with them, whether use them as pet battles, or polymock pieces or something.

I loved minis in Guild Wars 1…here I don’t think about them at all.

I like the ranger changes so far, my pets seem to stay up longer. I still only use spiders in dungeons, for obvious reasons. Melee pets are still going to go down fast.

I’m of a mixed mind on the temporary nature of the dungeon. I’ll run it a bunch of times till it goes away. Then I won’t run it again. On one hand, I ran AC a bunch of times and will probably never run it again unless a guildie needs help with it. I’m over all the other dungeons (except for two of them that I still need a single path in for my Dungeon Master title), so yeah.

I’m just not sure about temporary stuff. I still think that after this goes, something else will come in to replace it.

If you’re that dependent on that one skill in PVe, that nerfing it is a pit of despair, I’m guessing you don’t play the profession very well. It’s ONE skill.

My Main is a Ranger. This patch put in a Gem Store Skin that I actually wanted and didn’t have to depend on RNG to obtain. They also introduced new content (Dungeon) and gave my class a slight boost.

Overall, 9/10. There are still some issues with my class that weren’t addressed, but step in the right direction. This is the first Patch I can remember where Rangers didn’t get hit with the Nerf bat despite being already considered a weak class by the bulk of the player base.

PVE is BROKEN as a PVE player i can say i can compare this patch to that of november that caused the EA like reputation they are earning with pride….

P.S: they also managed to ruin other profession with new bugs
But being their work to fix and not mine to test for them i ll just wait them to discover them

A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

I just wish that they would add some sort of NPC support (like GW1) so we can do all of the content without having to find a 5 man group. These living story events, with the need for a multi person group to complete, frustrate me no end (especially with no LFG tool). Standing there and spamming chat can be a huge PITA when you need to find a group of 5.

The same goes for the personal story.

The rest of the stuff seems ok, but for me personally, the lack of a way to get through the end of these events pretty much excludes me from them. I have a busy personal schedule and waiting for a group burns my gaming time. Needing 5 people is a bit much. Could this be reduced to 2 or 3?

5/10 for me.

Good point. And one I frequently see in these forums.

If a guild is too casual then it is either too small to have enough players on at any given time or the players are not bound together enough to play regularly or cohesively. Casual guilds are also very fluid in terms of keeping players (or even existing for long).

Also it is kind of cheesy for me to join a guild with the sole purpose of competing only my story. I’d have to lie my way in or play with them so seldom (only when I want to do personal content) that the rest of the guild would feel manipulated.

Obviously, hard-core guilds require mandatory play at certain times, practices, guaranteed participation in various events and use of voice comms. Not my cup of tea.

Yes, this is selfish but this is MY game and it was advertised as being a game that I could play solo (one would think this would be true especially for the main story and special events).

I can see how grouping would be necessary for regular dungeons but the main story line should be soloable or it should be supported by NPCs that can help finish content.

Don’t join a guild just to do your story. Join a guild to find some nice people who ALL want to finish their story. lol

We have about 80 people in my guild, about 20-30 people who are on all the time, and we’re real casual. People can represent or not, if they want.

But if you don’t like the patch because you can’t get content done…join a guild. One day you do the content you want because you need that and another time, maybe you give back to the guild by helping someone else with a skill point or a vista, or even a dungeon. Still very early so I’m not sure I should rate. lol
Mainly PvE and WvW Mesmer here so I’ll break it down a bit.

WvW: 6/10
Confusion nerf is a killer for my Mesmer, it might have been strong before but not OP as you can control it. I think they are trying to offset this by improving arrow carts so we’ll see how that goes. (-5 for the nerf).

Living Story: 9/10
OK only really had time to run the dungeon but really really enjoyed it. I like that it’s only there for a set time as a dungeon but really hope it isn’t shelved afterwards. Converting it to a fractal would appease me though (as some other people have suggested)

GEM Store: 9/10
OK very little that I personally would buy but having new skins and items which don’t rely on RNG is a good thing. Personally I’d like them in BL chests but also in the store. (So that you can still get a great item from a chest)

sPvP: 8/10
Almost never do sPvP but I might start now, I will certainly be watching some matches.

Balance and bugs: 7/10
Can’t ever complain about bugs being fixed 5/5.
Balancing in PvE seems weird though, not that I believe balance in PvE really matters as long as each class has strengths and weaknesses.

So I guess overall about 8/10

It’s pretty much a very good patch. I like most of the things apart from the dungeon being only ten days (why?) and buffing the most broken OP build by 100% in pve (why???).

Overall it looks good, but the F&F has to stay to keep the world alive (living story much) and some much needed pve balancing is required.

PVP/WvW: 10/10
PVE: 7/10

I want moar pve balance. Especially for my main necro. Yes I’m biased. But I just don’t give a kitten of how warrior do in pvp. I thought they are splitting pve/pvp skill but I only see very minor part of the balancing getting split. And the minion aggro change, I heard it’s the same as before, although I don’t haven’t test yet.

Never touch F&F yet but dungeon is good no matter what. However, it’d be better if it’s not limited time. My whole guild except one player haven’t touched living story yet. It’d be good if we have more time to try it.

Dungeon glitches fixes are good.

But patch is patch. It’s always good to have some changes.

Tentative Good:

  • The long awaited separation of PVE/PVP/WVW behaviors, now if we can get them to go thru and fix all the breakage they’ve done over the past 8 months to PVE that would be great!
  • Rares seem to drop alot more in open world, finally we can actually farm again I believe. Now if we can just get some more gossamer and a great place to get bloods that would be nice.
  • Pets no longer aggro everything in sight. It’s actually nice to have them out now, if only they could be stowed permanently and not pop out when something picks a fight.
  • Hero Panel displays much more then before and seems to be cleaned up.
  • Increased pet toughness and hitpoints, now if only they’d learn that AOE’s will still kill turrets in two seconds so they’ll finally and at long last add the tried and true pet 90% dmg reduction from such attacks.
  • The tavern in DR now no longer sounds like someone is having sex on the balcony. Thanks! LOL

Bad:

  • New temporary dungeon as bad as ever in dungeon design, bosses AOEs were everywhere at all times, and both bosses prevented movement much of the time had three shot and single shot moves that couldn’t be dodged. Many CC and reflect skills were worthless against them, makes one wonder why they made these skills if they can’t be used in boss fights.
  • DR still exists in the world, needs to be completely removed so farming can resume since most of the bots are gone now it’s been almost a year.
  • Engineers still need lots of PVE work. While damage ratios were slightly improved on engineers, there’s still ALOT of damage that early balance patches have done to PVE damage skills that need a boost across the board including Condi damage (bleeds and poisons). Retal and confus need to be returned to their first month ratios for PVE as they were originally nerfed into uselessness for the sake of PVP. Gadgets still self CC, still don’t provide passive boons, still don’t offer faster run speeds (like Rocket Boots for instance could be used as a signet that allows a 25% ooc run speed). Turrets are still useless until they can me protected from massive AOE damage. Kit Refinement is still broken with the useless skills like redundant small glue spots from EG instead of a heal zone, no shield bubble on the toolkit, medkit needs an AOE heal to bring it up to par with ele healing versatility. the 19 page list of design flaws on the engineer needs a re-eval.
  • Open world focus is still not there. We need the promised new metas (non guild related) we need better rewards for exploration.
  • Dailies take an entire day to complete because the requirements are entirely too high.
  • Still not enough cosmetics in game. Backpacks are all but non-existant. We don’t have anywhere near the number of backpacks that other games offer (for RP purposes like for different jobs). Engineers still can’t make their hobo packs a toggle or change their dyes. There are no hooded cloaks to speak of. No minigames other then the two from launch to get cosmetic rewards as prizes for currency from these minigames or from completing them.

6/10 It’s a good start, got a long way to go tho.

I liked the dungeon, as I have liked living story pretty much all along.
I was pleased that the RTL, Cleansing Wave and Mist Form changes don’t seem to be affecting me much in PvE.
The rest of it was either positive (bug fixes) or neutral (PvP stuff — I don’t much, but I understand the importance of it for others).

The Reanimator trait continues to proc that stupid little Jagged Horror so my only choice in the matter is to not trait Death Magic or accept a “pet” I have no desire for.

Good:
New ‘dungeon’- its fun and boss battle is better than a bunch of the other perm dungeons.
No RNG Cash shop crap – again, finally.
Jetpack/mini – REALLY hope I can get at least one of each to drop before its gone.

Bad:
New ‘dungeon’ is temporary >:(
Stealth still OP (at least make it so you can’t stomp someone in WvW while stealthed)
Engineers still get more nerfs than buffs.

Haven’t played WvW enough since patch to comment on those changes.
Overall:
probably 5/6 /10.
Mainly because I’m really, really kitten at Test Facilities being temporary, even more so that its not even two weeks we get to play it.

To people who say world vets are now too hard: this is from too many glass canon / zerker builds out in the open world where you need a balanced build.

If you had a balanced build the changes would be something you didn’t even know had happened.

I was wondering how I’d managed to almost complete my monthly for vets last night, now I know.

If you are on a balanced build and getting hit hard: avoid group events where you see a lot of people getting downed fast. That’s a group with too many glass canons and you don’t want to be carrying ALL those folks…

On the patch my ONLY complaint is that the best dungeon ever is temporary.

Everything else looks like sheer /win.

The skins were done right.
The dungeon is amazing.
The pet promo is a great revenue idea I plan to get all 5.
The gauntlets are good. One per account is offset with it being exotic so you don’t NEED it for multiple toons. Would be nice but I can acccept this.
The class changes seem the right direction.

Good patch overall, just let us keep this content.

Didn’t see this in the patch notes, but twilight/sunrise is recognized as a legendary weapon now, and you finally get a medal in the log in screen.

For starters, I like this update. I mainly play ranger and warrior, and they buff seem to have a good update. =) For warrior, the frenzy taking 25% dmg compare to 50% is perfect for me >=)

And veterans? They are not harder… I solo hundreds of them yesterday… At the Same time! 0_0

I solo’d Champion Rotten Oakheart this aftertoon. It wasn’t easy, but occasionally a few of it’s Veterans would get dragged into the fight, and along with dealing with the Champ and it’s spawns, vets, etc.. It wasn’t so bad. Just had to keep moving and play smart.

Patch so far is fine. No complaints.

2/10 honestly.

Bad:

Sure, the dungeon is fun, but to me it doesn’t seem worth it to run it more than once (unless of course I want to grind for the slim chance of getting anything worth something). Plus there’s only the story mode, and it’s temporary? In my opinion, the time they put into that really wasn’t worth it for such temporary content.

Some class changes were pretty decent, but engi was basically nerfed to crap and ele’s RtL nerf was pointless when they’re nerfing many other things about the ele. If you’re in melee and you take away any sort of secure healing, condition removal, or mobility? Now going D/D really isn’t worth it since they have no weapon swap or anything to attempt to hit things from a distance.

More work on the gem store…sure, I understand this is where they make their money, but it definitely shouldn’t be a priority.

CoF still where it’s at.

Good:

I really like the retaliation animation

I noticed a change with the time on nourishment and such, displaying minutes and seconds, which is nice, but not really necessary.

Party bugs seemed to be fixed.

Overall:

There’s nothing really in this update that wants me to keep playing. It’s not the content or updates that ArenaNet needs to keep this game going.

It really doesn’t even feel like a month’s work of updates, either. I think they really need to pick up their game if they want to keep it running, especially with ES:O coming up…I already know a lot of people are switching to that game as fast as possible.

Open world is still just as it was before these “world fixing expansion worth of content” was added.. zero rewards and grindy to level up and terrible RNG to get anything (go test a new character to 80 to see how grindy its become over 9 months) the loot tables are just as broken as ever outside of World events (that’s why so many players camp these 24/7)..

WvW is a zerg fest as it always was, spvp i don’t care a whim about, my ego is fine i don’t need to stroke it in there…

We have a temporary dungeon for 2 weeks covered in even more RNG with a few new cash shop skins added and people seem happy, i guess Anet must be doing something right…

The class balancing was the only thing i looked forward too yet i still see very little changes to Ranger (cannot perma stow) and Engineer is as useless as ever, if you hate Grenades, turrets and wrenches as i do, i have yet to try Necromancer.

So all in all a very shallow patch for me..

9/10 for the F&F dungeon. Even with the bugs, it was a lot of fun.

1/10 for the new Cursed Shore event scaling. Who even asked for this??? The events were fine how they were.

I’ve been actually watching sPvP matches. That’s just so cool to me. It’s actually fun to just spectate matches. The F&F dungeon is a really good step in the right direction as far as boss mechanics go, and the fact that it is temp does suck but the drastic improvement in dungeon quality is enough for me to just be happy with the improvement inherently. weapon skins that are cool and NOT RNG-based is awesome.

That being said, I have’t actually experienced them but I hear that the event scaling in Orr is rindonc. Class balance hasn’t really bothered me at all as a Guardian thought I’m sure I’d be singing a different tune if I were a different profession.

Don’t let the 8/10 fool you, since a 10/10 is perfect and the patch wasn’t perfect I couldn’t give it that in good conscience but I love this patch. Really awesome patch all around, ESPECIALLY with arenas and spectator.

Until they make a point of keeping skill buff/nerfs separate for PvP/PvE,WvW, the best they can manage is 1/10.
