I myself am a skill clicker for the skills 6-9 , and im so used to that that upon changing them to other keys , i am completely out of my element

the question here is , when i doge and click i start linking my skills , all the time becouse i click them and dodge at the same time

is there anyway to change the Shift + click combination becouse i am not seeing it anywhere to reffers to that combination in the options

Cheers

Could you explain a little bit better???

You can customize your entire layout so I don’t exactly understand the problem here.

I am not sure there is a way to assign the Shift+click function to another key, or set of keys.

I don’t like when I accidentally broadcast my skills, either. I’m not sure why you are using Shift when clicking skills 6-0. Is your dodge assigned to Shift? That you can assign elsewhere.

It can’t be changed through the ingame keybindings.

I don’t understand why you’re pressing shift though. Have you set that to dodge or something?

The problem is that shift-click always links a skill, the poster uses Shift to dodge, and activates skills by clicking on them, so dodging while activating a skill links the skill into the chatbox, the skill doesn’t fire, and people die.

Not everything can be customised.

And no, there is no way I know of to change it. Try using the z key instead of the Shift key, it’s not that far away and wouldn’t cause this issue.

Yeah, I think the only alternative is to remap dodge to something else since those kind of “shift click” functions (chat linking) doesn’t have an option to change it.. Personally I just use V, but I also don’t click 6-9 as I have those keybound to my mouse. V is easy for me to reach though.

It’s best to leave dodge at V or double click movement anyways. You can SPACE+V pretty easily to jump roll for extra distance too while dodging more easier than space+shift in the right time window

I’m not sure linking causes the skill not to fire. When I am using Ctrl or Alt, and fire a skill, it does link, but also actually performs as it is supposed to. It just tells everyone what I am doing. Lol.

Yeah, it may be best to just bind your dodge to another key like E,R,C,V or anything close to your WASD keys. Personally, I use the double click to dodge on movement keys. So if I want to dodge forward I double click W, dodge side D or A and dodge back S. It seems to work fairly well for me.

Or if you have a keyboard that can be macroed or edited you could just assign the shift key to another input so that way it wouldn’t act as a real shift key but just as your dodge key. Then you could rebind another key you don’t use as left shift if you really wish to have it as shift.

Or use a keyboard like Razer and have player profiles that you can swap easily to make shift actually be shift and with a click of a button make it just be another key for dodge.

Shift is used as a modifier for so many things, I’m not sure I would use it as a Dodge key, but that’s just me. I, too, use double-tap for Dodge, usually. Or click it occasionally, but not often.

I guess you either need to re-assign, which you were asking for, or not click on 6-0 (which I do as well…I know, I am bad for clicking =P).

Here is an app for re-assigning keyboard keys. UAYOR. http://sharpkeys.codeplex.com/

@OP

Since you’re a clicker, you can click on your Health bar to dodge, then click on the skill you want.

I use the middle mouse button (mouse wheel) for dodge and that works nicely.

Well you have been given a lot of good advice here. As what you currently use doesn’t seem to work for you, you will need to figure something out if you want to avoid the problem you have now. Plus MX400 isn’t really a gaming mouse. If you like Logitech products check out the Logitech G600 That is what I have and I love it. You’ll never have to click skills again because they can be all at your thumb.

You can put dodge on your mouse 3rd wheel, the scroll wheel, as a click down and not the scroll part. With a little practice that becomes very intuitive.

Did you know you can press the bar above your health (the endurance bar) and you will dodge?

The only problem with that though, is you only dodge backwards I believe.

Some good advice above so I will not repeat any of it.

I’m a little confused by one part: When I use Shift-click it doesn’t actually broadcast the skill clicked, it just puts it in the chat box. Which I’d assume is worse as that would change focus of all keys to the chat box. I know I really hate trying to input movement/skills when the chat window has focus. My guess is that this is really about Ctrl-click?

I understand your pain, only with me I use ctrl as a modifier for skills 7-9.

The reason, my G500 doesn’t have enough buttons for all 10 skills so I’ve bound ctrl+the ones I use for skills 1-3 to do my utilities.

However, when I get lazy and I’m not in a serious fight I sometimes click the utils (old habit.) Trouble is, my mind isn’t perfect and sometimes I do half the deed by holding ctrl, but miss the other half by clicking.

Same issue with pressing ESC, it’s the most reliable skill interrupter, but I’ll often try jumping, rolling or strafing out of my move for like 5 secs before I even think to reach all the way over there.

Pays to have a precise and attentive mind I guess.

Get a mouse with 3 buttons, link dodge to the middle button, and get used to that.

Now only will you avoid the problem, but you will also be much more effective at dodging.

This….sort of.
I got a mouse with 3 thumb keys, i assigned one of them as ‘dodge’. My dodging is noticeably more effective having it bound to the mouse.

Only if the mouse wheel supports the “wheel click” function. Otherwise you’re going to be tampering with camera settings. TBH, I dont see how left shift is more convenient than the default ‘v’ is.
