Does anyone know if the Lvl 80 boost will work with FUTURE Professions?

I am still sitting on mine, since my toons are all lvl 80 already. I know it can give me stuff to use and such, but it seems more beneficial to actually use it for the boost purposes to get the “full benefit”.

I know we do not know, yet, if we will get another Profession in the next XPAC, like we did with Revenant. But if we did, it might be worth it to save it.(Although I do want to use that shared inv slot…decisions, decisions )

It would be great to get an official reply, but any thoughts are welcome.

Well, first of all it is extremely unlikely there will be another profession. The plan is to go with more elite specializations. Second, the next expac is not happening for a long time. You can easily have staks of tomes of knowledge by then. I think the shared slot is more useful.

The more slots, the more usefulness, but typical things are salvage-o-matics and bank expresses, things that do you no good if they are in another alt’s bags and you need them on your current alt.

I have crowbars, exalted keys, chak acid, machetes, DR pass, BF pass, blank slot for random things I want to swap to alts, tele to friends, bank expresses, silver fed, copper fed, and 3 infinite tools in mine. All of those except the tools can be used from the slot. For the tools I equip from the slots when gathering on an alt (thus swapping in the tools normally carried on the alt), and equip from the slots again before logging (if I remember).

Some people say just to put in a permanent bank express and then use that to get at the other stuff. That’s nice, if you can afford one, but the listed things need to be in inventory to use afaik so it saves a lot of UI management.

It’s an L80 booster, not an “L80 booster for only 9 professions”. Unless they disable the functionality completely, it will work on any character.

That said, I can’t think of any good reason for waiting 12 months or longer for the next profession. The shared inventory slot is just too useful and getting a toon to L80 with exotic gear is quick enough for most long-time veterans.

I’d be very surprised if the level 80 boost couldn’t be used with future professions. It’s a permanent addition to the game, something all new accounts will get, so it wouldn’t make any sense to restrict it to only the original professions.

Anet would need to make sure it gives you the right kind of equipment and sets your skills up correctly of course, but I’m sure they would do that as part of making a new profession – just like they added story rewards for the revenant.

However I agree with the people who said it’s going to be a long time before the next expansion comes out so you’d be better off using the boost now so you can free up the (IMO much more useful) shared slot, and then save 80 Tomes of Knowledge in the bank in case you want an instant level 80 in future.

what do you even put in it?

If I only had 1 slot I’d use it for Revive Orbs. That way I’d always have them when I needed them, instead of realising after I’ve died somewhere I don’t want to Waypoint and I’m unlikely to be revived that I don’t have any.

Bank Access Express (the single use ones) would be my second choice, but I have more of them so I could more easily divide them between my characters.
