Guild Wars 2

This weekend i’m going to be trying to get one of my friends to try out the game and have a few questions.

I know the F2P version is a more limited version of the game, but still has access to the main world and such. But if someone is playing on that version, are they still able to play with friends? Or do they need the 15$ base game for it?

Yes free play can join friends in core content. There are some level requirements to access some parts of the game though. Here are the differences in account types including free to play restrictions.

They don’t have access to the HoT and the new maps but they have acccess to all the maps in core Tyria.

Except racial cities until level 10, Lion’s Arch until level 35, and WvW until level 60.

Also, they can’t use the trading post (for a few days at least, not sure), send mails or whisper.

The TP can be used but only a subset of items can be bought and sold.
