Question about the new Precursor skins
As far as I know there is no ‘new leaf of kudzu’ they will be completely new legendaries. Because of this you will definitely have to do the collection to unlock the recipe and then craft it to unlock the skin. After that you will get the skin but you’ll probably want to craft the legendary out of it because with all the current precursors there is a much cheaper way of obtaining the skin.

There won’t be new Leaf of Kudzu skin, the precursor collection is just another way to get precursors.
If you are preferring to new legendary weapons, it won’t be same longbow precursor. New precursors are added to the game and it will be our job to figure it out, like in the day one. Ofc You’ll hve collection to get these new ones too.

Goliath is referring to the process by which a precursor weapon is made. If I remember the PoI on that right, then yes, if you have already made the legendary, when the expansion releases the first two skins (incarnations) of the weapon before it becomes a precursor will be unlocked.

According to the Blog, it sounds like if you have the Precursor skin already unlocked, you will automatically unlock the 2 previous iterations.
But, it does not expressly state that, only that if you find a non-new Precursor by any of the non-collection methods, it will automatically unlock the previous iteration skins (of course, you must unlock the Precursor skin the usual ways; equip, destroy, forge, etc.).

Actually, the precursors are all getting new skins that are watered down versions of their Legendaries:
For all of our existing precursors, this is a tradable exotic weapon, but they will all be updated to use new skins that look much like the legendary weapons they’ll one day become. We like to think of these new precursor skins as the legendary weapon before it is embodied by its soul.

The door is ajar.
Oh! Re-reading the part posted just above, I had forgotten that existing Precursors would get new skins.
In that case, then you will likely not get any skins (iteration or other-wise) automatically unlocked.
Technically, you are supposed to get all skins in the promotion chain before the one you unlock when you unlock a skin. So, therefore, having the Legendary should get the new precursor skins when they appear.
However, this unlocking processes at the time of the unlock. Since the Legendary is already unlocked, there is nothing to trigger the unlocking of the new precursor skins.
I expect this to arrive broken, and we’ll have to make some noise about it.

As far as I remember when the wardrobe system was first added all you had to do to unlock the skins for all the items you had equipped or in your inventory/bank was log into each character, or maybe unequip and re-equip them. That included legendaries unlocking their precursors skins. (And Eternity unlocking Sunrise, Twilight, Dusk and Dawn.)
Since the wardrobe system is already in place and isn’t being changed, just some new skins being added, I assume it will work the same way.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
The precursors right now don’t have their own skins, all of them share a skin with another weapon. When you craft a legendary right now you don’t unlock that precursor’s skin, you unlock the skin of the other weapon that the precursor shares it’s skin with. For example if you get Dusk and craft Twilight, the skin you’ll unlock is called Naegling, not Dusk.
Because of this I’m afraid we’re not going to get the update precursor skins automatically unlocked when HoT arrives, even if we already crafted some legendaries.
Can’t wait to see the new precursor skins. I seem to recall people suggesting a weapon skin that eventually “Evolved” into a legendary, and this sounds pretty similar to that (with a precursor being an imperfect version of the legendary). Pretty hyped.

This isn’t true for the torch’s precursor. I bought that one for the skin only, so I’d like to know if that one is being changed.
The short story is they haven’t said yet. I don’t expect them to do so right now — they’ll read questions on the forums, asked by fanzines/bloggers, and the next time there’s a news post or an official presentation on the topic, they’ll share some more details.
At that point, I expect some market disruption: prices on a few things will tank or skyrocket, as speculators speculate, non-speculators panic, and some speculators panic.

Oh, I didn’t know that. In that case, I think there are 3 options:
1) They change the precursor torch skin and you’ll lose the skin you have now.
2) They change the precursor torch skin but add the current skin as a new separate skin. Those who have the current skin unlocked will have the new separate skin unlocked too.
3) They won’t change the precursor torch skin.
I think option 2 or 3 is the most likely to happen. The current skin for the Rodgort precursor already looks like a watered down version of the legendary Rodgort so they might just keep it the way it is.
