Question regarding macro policy
all depends on what you want holding down the button to do if its more then 1 action then yes

“Guild Wars 2 players are permitted to use macros as long as the macros are programmed with a 1 key for 1 function protocol.
This means that if you program a macro, it must require one keystroke per action. You may not program a single key to perform multiple functions.
For example, if you Press A and it results in the casting of a single skill, you’re ok. If you Press A and it casts multiple spells, you’re not ok.
You cannot program a macro to performs the same or multiple actions on more than one account at a time.
You cannot program an “auto-clicker” macro that, for instance, opens chests while you play elsewhere.”
Thank you for the link.
I’m not sure what exactly multi boxing is.
My idea would be that when I click a certain mouse button it activates F1 but when I hold it longer than X seconds it activates attack 1.

Multi boxing is playing more than one account at a time. If you have 5 accounts for example you could have a full party of 5 running together playing the game.
As to your idea, it sounds iffy. If there are times when both skills, F1 and attack 1, go off from using that key press and if ANet is able to “see” such things then your account could be terminated.
That would basically be keybinding so you’d be OK.
Input 1: Click Mouse
Action 1: F1
Input 2: Hold Mouse
Action 2: 1
Two separate Inputs for two separate actions.
EDIT: This assumes that Holding the mouse does not also count as clicking.

Thank you very much for the explanation.[/quote]

But the general idea - clicking/holding a button results in different actions - is allowed?

As long as clicking and holding don’t happen on the same keypress.
I.e. your “Hold” press cannot activate the “Click” ability.
as someone who plays with a g600… I really don’t understand your idea.
.. why do you need this non-intuitive input scheme? what actions aren’t you able to map with the regular schemes?
not counting mouse1&2 you have 16 buttons, 27 if you use the shift button(and 80+ if you cycle between the 3 set-ups)

While your idea is probably ok, it’s going to be ANet that makes the final decision. Our comments are our opinions and nothing more than that.
There is an approved way to have one key capable of performing 2 different skills though. If you bind skill 1 to 1 and bind F1 to Ctrl + 1 for example. That’s set up to be allowable in the control options (in control options: hold down Ctrl and the key you want for that skill and bind it to there. Then to use the skill press Ctrl and 1 together)
Never understood this policy. A macro per definition automatically and consecutively executes the commands contained in the macro. What is the point of a macro if there is only one action in it, it would be identical to a keybind. Not even sure if a “macro” that only does one command would even fall inside the definition of a macro anymore.
*For those who always only read every second word of a post: I am not saying using macros with several commands is ok, I am not saying cheating is ok, and I am not using any macro. Thank you for your attention.
People using belittling wording like whining/qqing" are not taken seriously by me
Same for people posting only to tell others not to post (“deal with it”-posts)
