Vini, Vidi, Vici, Viridis…I came, I saw, I conquered…I got a green??
Although I did enjoy the Karka quest in LA one thing that has jumped out at me over the last while is the lack of any complex quests. Everything is geared around one’s motor skills and dexterity and nothing really mentally challenging has been done for questing. I understand the game is geared towards a general audience, but I don’t think there would be any harm in introducing quests that actually take some smarts and deductive reasoning to resolve.
I always go back to the time I played AC and how many of the quests actually involved some compellingly complicated puzzles to resolve, even Rift got that down fairly well. I am not sure what is on the table for HoT but I would to see some real deeply engineered quests that would involve some time and effort to resolve. I would suggest something along the lines of Mists or Zork as a model to look to in order to add some dimension and depth to our day to day questing experience.
