The Blog Post says, that from today on, bought Gems do count towards the Bonus Event.
So if we buy from today until 31st Dezember at least 4000 Gems, then we will receive together with the Green Quaggan Back item a Miniature of Mr Sparkles.

But my question now is turnung around more the Gems.

What kind of bought Gems do REALLY count? Does every “bought” Gem count?

100% sure is, that Gems do count, when you buy them direct from the Ingame Shop with Credit Card ect. no question about that, thats so sure like the fact, that one day everyone has to die…

But what is with Gems for example received with bought Gem Cards?
Do these generated Gems do count also, when you bought Gem Cards and redeem them within this month?

I’m asking this, because I’m questioning myself, if I have to buy basically 4000 Gems now directly ingame if I want to get the Mr. Sparkles, or if it is basically enough, if I just buy 2000 Gems ingame and get the other 2000 gems from an bought Gem Card which I redeem now…

Would be nice, if one Anet employee could clear this up please.
Or just someone else, who can give on this a clear straight unmissunderstandable answer

From the promotional email anet sent to players.

“Your rewards will be based on gems purchases and gem code redemptions between 12:01 AM December 1 and 11:59 PM December 31 PST. In early January, you’ll receive the gifts you unlocked!”

“Gem code redemptions” should cover your cards so you should be all set.

I think he’s asking more if gems bought with gold (correct?) count towards the total? The gem cards bought definitely count, but do the other gems have to be bought with real currency, or do the gems ‘bought’ with ingame gold count?

ok, thanks for this clear answer, haven’t read this E-Mail yet.

So I can use my Gem Card and will have directly 2000/4000 Gems for this month done and need only to buy the other 2000 directly from the game either or buy another Gem Card within this month and redeem it for reaching the 4000 Gem goal.

Gems exchanged for gold did not count in any previous promotions, and are not likely to count towards this promotion’s requirements, either.

Didn’t know that. Haven’t traded gold for gems ever, I don’t think. Never had enough gold

Correct. Though they (the last 2000) have to bought with real money/currency, as per Inculpatus cedo post.
