Guild Wars 2

Heya folks,

I’ve been away from the game for about 3 months now and while I’ve spent a good bit of time trying to catch upon the forums, I’m feeling like I’m somewhat lost as to the current state of the living world, PvP, and WvW.

Would any of you be willing to give me a quick update on what I’ve missed and what I should be looking for now?

My take:

Living World: Current season has been going along nicely, with new maps and updates happening fairly regularly. Fun stuff, in my opinion.

PvP: This season is a disaster. The rewards are iffy at best, it seems pretty dead to me. I am not a dedicated PvPer though, so someone else can likely answer this one better.

WvW: Same old same old. If you liked it before you probably still will, but it is stale and they haven’t done much with WvW at all. I still have fun in WvW but I don’t spend a lot of time in there these days because it’s the same.

PvP this season has the best implementation and the worst participation.

Basically the devs fixed all of the exploit and crap from previous seasons, but the hype is long dead so nobody cares. The fact that the rewards where nerfed into a joke removed any incentives.

What happened to the rewards? I remember before leaving that you could only get enough points for a few ascended items and really couldn’t finish the set. It was pretty frustrating if you loved doing PvP.

All other sources of ascended gear than crafting were changed, so they now use crafting and a game-mode-specific “currency” to create the items. Opinions vary, but if you don’t already have the materials to directly craft ascended, they do reduce the cost by about 20 percent compared to buying from the TP to make them “classic” crafting style.

Two changes:
1) the amount of ascended shard you get per box was reduced to a third of what it was.
2) Ascended rewards now require crafting tokens in addition to the shards. Crafting these tokens costs just as much as just straight crafting the gear.

Basically it now takes forever and it doesn’t save you any coin.

That sucks! I used to nolife PvP as I just loved it. The rewards were just an added bonus as it was the best way for me to gear up. Ugh… I hate fractals.
