Today I purchased 10 Glint Dye Packs from the gem store, I really liked the look of them so I went for it to try to get at least one dye. To my behold the 1000 gems I spent on the dyes all came out to be useless dyes which are selling for 60 copper – 10 silver on the trading post.

From my frustration I would like to know peoples thoughts on the matter of RNG with these dyes and has anyone had as bad luck as me?

I also find it annoying that you can’t get at least one of the new dyes from these dye packs. It would be better if one of the drops is guaranteed new dye, and the others are rng-based.

It should be guaranteed that you get a rate/exotic dye…especially if you use gems. The RNG has gotten out of control.

I like some of the dyes, but I won’t buy those packs. As you’ve seen, they’re a rip off for everyone but the lucky.

If you don’t like RNG don’t purposely buy into it.

Yup, just buy your dye off the TP. Or not.

I don’t know, do I?

Ehm…
Silverwastes, max stack, 150% (essential) (!)
MF booster, 50% (!)
Laureate booster, 30% (!)
Banner 10(!)/15%
bonfire 50%
Birthday/Celebration booster 100% (!0
Food 30% (!)
Halloween utility 30% (!)
Personal magic find…. ???% (200% in my case)

(!) Used this myself for an 620% magic find (O.O) applicable to boxes as stated in tooltip of silverwastes buff…. gaining 7 rares of 12 bought in Glint’s Dye’s.

Cough… ~40-60% good drop. Magic find will help with boxes Silverwastes 2014.
Also workes with (champion) bags/boxes/chests and so on.

GL !

Now let’s make the trading post half the price for everything and break the economy,

Quaggan says Hi to flippers!

23 lvl 80’s, 9 times map, 4ele, 4ncr, 3war, 3grd, 3rgr, 2thf, 2msm, 1eng, 1 rev.

For you maybe. Had no influence for me whatsoever when running around Silverwastes with 522% magic find from all the different boosts.

Although not sure what this has to do with RNG dyes.

Well I bought a set of 5 gaining 3
then I bought a set of 5 gaining 3
afterwards I bough 2 singles and gained 1…

I think this would be a rediculous extreme if this would only be in the RNG…
A friend tried it with 25 dyes and got 11… which is stil above the 1-2 per 25 which was normal with older dye sets… he was at 563%.

Sounds like RNG to me. A good example would be the Halloween mini. People opened 250 bags & got one. Other people opened 30k bags or more without success.

With the cash used for 1 000 gems, I’m pretty sure you could have bought whichever dye you wanted on the TP.

RNG in this game is terrible, especially with everything gemshop related. ANet is always going to beat you, so instead of buying gems, use your gold to buy what you want on the TP.

Regarding MF : the RNG in this game is kittened up, it’s impossible to say if MF really has an influence or not.

Maybe true… but if noone buys them for gems they are not availableon the BLTP anyways and low amounts of dyes are flipped, saw 1 costing 50 gold1 day and 250 gold the next…

In a perfect world it could be a problem. But it’s not the case : there will always be players trying their luck.
And the day everyone stops gambling, Anet might change their gem shop (but that day won’t ever come).
