This is right in the feels.. they brought EVERY freaking skin back.. even those st*pid horns.. but no.. i cn forget about getting hands on my own ghastly shield.. 100 pieces divided randomly between millions of players.., thats just plain bulls*it
and yes, they were RNG when they came out, but they were not limited..

Yeah and this time its strongly limited. Knowing how RNG works probably those who only submit 1-10 of the pieces will win more often than those who submit thousands.

Worst case scenario would completely destroy the in-game economy and i wouldn’t be surprised at this point if it did happen.
Its cool with me and I have several of the skins. But I also don’t feel like something has to be rare to be awesome.

I don’t agree with this at all… I don’t think it will ruin the economy at all. It might bring the prices down in a few but I don’t think it will ruin anything.

Seriously, with that only 1000 (or less since you can get more than just 1 skin with alot of luck) will have a nice halloween while you ruin it for several hundred thousands.

Its not Pay to Win it offers nothign but cosmetics. Also it is no more RNG than it was before. When they have ALWAYS been RnG, always. They came from Black Lion Chests and later from a special Mystic Forge Recipe to handle some abundance of Black Lion mats from the first year. Mystery Tonics I’m lookin’ At You!

Whats even more disgusting is the fact u can only buy fixed amoutnt of gems, which skyrocketed after the patch!!!! I only need 100gems yet I cant buy it becaus eu need ot buy a minimum of 400gems.
700gems were around 69g earlier today and now its 76g for 400gems..

I hope they continue to recycle skins that were removed from the game after events. Sadly I can’t get the one shield skin I want since it was actually exclusive (only once, ever would it be available).

It looks like there is 100 of each skin being raffled off. I highly doubt that’s going to cause the market for these items to crash.
100 only for the two rarest, 200 for the ones that were more common.

gem wars 2.. getting pretty tired of this, and i don’t even hate the gem store… it’s starting to rightfully irk me off though that arena net Continually amalgamates their questing with RNG.. it’s in Everything.. i’m sick of seeing it, how lazy can you get.. it boggles the mind, because there is good content in this game.. they seem adamant about dragging their own game through the mud though at every turn.. collections was a shamble and i compared pendant of arah to charlie and the chocolate factory’s golden tickets.. but it was a joke, and now it seems they are taking it a step farther with.. what? some sort of gem store Raffle.. this game is just creepy anymore.. happy halloween everyone

Depends, economies work on confidence in investment. I don’t know about you, but this causes me to lose a boatload of confidence in ANets ability to make any investment in the game worthwhile, and it’s the umpteenth event to do so.

Not really, because people that will pay tons of money on this will most likely get absolutely nothing for it.

This was the worst way they could have chosen. They obviously decided to pretend they have listened to people that asked for those skins to be brought back, but without actually doing that (because, seriously, a raffle with only 1000 skins for the whole game population is not what people wanted). Which practically made sure they are going to kitten off everyone that was interested in this.

Granted, but they’ve basically decided to ‘kitten off’ three million people versus at most a few thousand. Riot had to make this same decision only two years ago with retired skins, and they made the right one, choosing to err on the side of the majority who just wanted equal opportunity for rewards over the minority who wanted to feel special for having spent money at the right time. Apparently, Anets economists and monetization aren’t as good as Riots, but it’s not like any of us who’ve seen their lead economists posts didn’t figure that out some time ago.

Before I give my verdict on this one way or another, I need a confirmation. Is the ONLY way to get Foil Wrappers by purchasing Black Lion Keys? That was my initial thought, but I’ve seen some posters suggesting there are other ways to get them.

You can also get them from Trick-or-Treat bags. I honestly didn’t even know you could get them from the gem store until I read this thread.
Right. That makes it much more palatable then. Locking it completely behind the gem store would have been unacceptable. While I STILL would prefer a way to earn the skins directly, I can accept the compromise so that people who want the skins to remain rare/exclusive don’t get cheesed off.
Guess I’ll be doing a lot more farming in the Labyrinth this year.

Just because they are in the gemstore does not make it “unavailable” to everyone. You can convert gold to gems. Just, some people will have to work harder than others. Not that its gonna happen anyways.
