I know, I know, QQ whoa is me. But I have hit the RNG wall. I have about 2k hours played, no precursor drops or MF luck. I am not expecting any precursors and those aren’t the reason for the post.

I could have probably put this in the dungeon subforum, but dang, FOTM has slapped me in the face the last week. 7 runs in a row @49 without even seeing a crappy ring, and 6/7 runs in the 30’s bracket without receiving any bonus.

Just needed to vent my RNG punch in the gut over the last week. Anyone else in the midst of a bad run of luck?

Doesn’t help!!!! RNG is broken! It favours some and completely ignores others.

Hours played is meaningless.

If you have three players with 2k hours and each of them have a different playstyle, it’s going to affect your chances.

WvW’er? Very few opportunities for rolls
Dungeon? Very few opportunities for rolls
Mob farmer? High opportunities for rolls

If RNG favors others and ignores others…it’s not RNG.

Well, yes. Precursor has a very small chance to drop. MF does increase the chances though. Yes, some are very lucky. They should make some kind of long quest-chain or missions.

The post wasn’t about precursors, I don’t expect to ever see one of those. It is the absolutely dreadful streak of reward chests at the end of Fractals.

I hate the reward system in this game.

There’s no correlation between risk/time and reward.

Instead rewards are almost entirely random and valuable items can be attained with a similar chance in just about any type of content.

Maybe this is a side-effect of “play as you want” because rewards are kitten everywhere.

Only in GW2 are 95% of your drops worth less than 5 Silver, 4.9% of your drop worth less than 50 Silver and maybe 0.1% of your drops worth more than 2 Gold.

And if you’re really, really, really lucky you might get the drop worth 800 Gold. And this is pretty regardless of which content you do.

FOTM rewards are still a joke, that’s why I stopped doing my daily runs.
It’s funny how they don’t reward hard content properly.

And if 95% of you drops were worth 2 gold, you think that would make you richer? That means everyone else would also be getting 2 gold for 95% of their drops, leading to inflation, which is never good.

I’ve only played one game I considered worse in this regard and that was Diablo 3. In Diablo, they eventually realized their error and have tried to correct it and the next installment is rebooting the entire loot system to “2.0”. Maybe GW2 will have a reboot at some point, but I’m not sure Anet is aware of these problems. Their focus all along seems to have been nerfing what they considered over-reward.

It is a well known fact that if the player is of age 10 + created a Ranger named “Legolasss” + dyed armor in all pastel colors – then Dusk will drop.

Followed by Dawn.

Followed by Dusk.

It’s not about the value of items. It’s about feeling like an appropriate reward.

Running Fractals for 2 hours and coming out with a bunch of greens sucks just as much as fighting a Wurm boss only to get the same.

Nobody wants to be swarmed with green items from a chest when you could get the same from farming trash-mobs for 10 minutes in Orr.

Is it really unreasonable for big chests to reward multiple rare items, with a higher chance of exotics, rather than dumping more green stuff on players.

Is it unreasonable for a 1-2 hour Fractal run at level 40+ to reward players with at least one exotic item at the end? It’s not like exotics are rare. It’s just that they are handed out at random.
