Racial Abilities: Charr Edition
I’d ultimately just give them more unique flavored animations. Animations that have the Charr rushing at foes is already unique to them (they use their feet and 1 hand to run at you, the last hand used to hold the weapon), just make more animations with such a creature’s movements in mind.
I am all for racial differences. Each race has a couple Elite skills that are unique to it, but ANet intentionally made them so weak that they are rarely used in serious play. (The idea being game balance).
This thinking probably hurt the Norn more than the Charr or any other race. Their whole big thing when they were introduced in GW1 was that they were shape-shifters. The powers-that-be at ANet decided that shape-shifting was a cultural skill, and then watered it down so that nobody used them.
Charr were animalistic, but now they are more industrial than Humans. You are asking for them to be more animalistic again, because that is how you think of big, rough, clawed and fanged beasts.
I guess my point is that you are on the right track more or less. The different races should have more significant differences. PLAYABLE differences. Each should have it’s advantages and disadvantages. ANet should be able to balance them in some way other than making them so underpowered that they are never used.
Differences add to the flavor of the game.

Give them increased precision at night, kinda like cats :P. When someone goes stealth nearby, let them be able to keep up on their last known position so you could roughly gauge that sneaky snake’s movements.
I know that this wasn’t the topic, but if we’re talking racials, I was thinking giving sylvari greater regen in fields and near water and the ability to shoot wood and stuff like Groot. Give asura higher precision and power when casting spells. Give norn raw physical strength. Give humans……give humans…….the six gods, since they’re practically useless without their weapons :P.

That’s cool, I was hoping a few fellow fearless forumites would take the initiative and write up some threads like this for the other races.
That would kinda cool, to actually have racial skills that are usefull, or make better animations for each race. Sure we have some animations now…but they are not diverse, that would really blow life into the game.
Also this topic gave me a cool idea….we should have Hands and Feet as a weapon…that would be cool, some kind of martial arts/kungkitten^^
I doubt we’ll ever get any cool things like those, but it’s nice to dream i guess
