Radiant Armor can’t be dyed?
No idea. Though what really has me wondering about these skins besides that is the fact that there is no difference between the different armor types(heavy, medium, light)
Is anet getting lazy when it comes to skins or what?
You can’t dye them, all 3 versions look the same. I was trying to find light armor matching the radiant parts and no matter what armor I use it just looks bad…
well what good is an armor if we can’t dye it? hell if I plan to look like a copy a bunch of others.
i think it cant be dyed because of the particle effects, no other particle effects can be dyed in the game, not yet.
lazy? they have just released 3 armor sets with versions for all races (helms etc differ slightly) in both male and female versions, as well as new weapons skins every month, with 2 last month however un-obtainable as of yet from the aether blades.
how can you begin to think that’s lazy?
on a side note there are so many particle effects that the skins are pretty much that one big particle effect, the theme also (rocks on fire i think) and an angelic theme well…can go wrong with the same skins.
different types of skins for male/female and races would of course of been preferable but they are not lazy, not in a long shot there has been more content added in the last 3/4months than any other MMO out there (excluding expansions ofc)

Yeah, I’d say Anet is REALLY lazy when it comes to armor.
They had one month to make an entire new map, new skins for an achievement system and a PvP map; which appeared to take 2 weeks on our end.
It’s hard to dye an armor that has animated particle effects. This is the reason why weapons cannot be dyed, and several armors in GW1 couldn’t be dyed due to the same reason.
I’m pretty sure particle effects would be on a separate layer, so that shouldn’t be an issue. And what armor sets from GW1 couldn’t be dyed?

Basically they are being forced to pump out content faster than they can solve issues so we get a major hit in quality as compared to the original armors.
They simply didn’t have the time to make 3 different dyeable versions so they just made it all the same to make their deadline. Just one of the many reasons we need to slow down the content flow, or opt for expansions instead.

It’s not the particle effects that make them no dyeable, IMHO.. the zephyrite helmet also has particle effects and is dyeable, and so were the molten gloves.
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
The metal parts of the Radiant Armor should be dyeable, there is no reason for them to not be.
About the particle, another matter. I still think it would be awesome to dye those glowing parts.

I actually love the charr armour however i do realise i am one of a minority on this so i never say how good i think it is as i know there’s no point and it is my (very rare!) opinion
loco
aaah was not aware of that
I really hope they make it dyeable. That would be a simple but effective way to enable us to gain individuality.
It can’t be dyed yet but there looks like a spot that could. I don’t mind if the TOP glow can’t be dyed, however if you look at the bottom half of it its a “separate” piece and I figured the underside of that can be dyed which makes sense.
I’m thinking this is a bug at the moment because the preview thing is bugged as well. So who knows. Maybe if we keep mentioning it they can get on it
Also glow “could” be dyed. The Chaos Axes in the first game were pure glow and they could be dyed to a point. Problem with this is that this game has 100X more dye than the first game so mapping all the glow colours could be troublesome,. Plus some could look really bad (Abyss Dye glow anyone?)
As I’ve said in other threads, Anet has made the decision for GW2 to be a cosmetic-driven game, yet they do not seem to care about adjusting their budget to even support this model properly.
So we’ve got a game that wants us to “work hard” for the sake of incomplete skins. Take a look at the AP ones.1. Only three pieces. 2. Same for all armor types. 3. Can’t even be died. At the very least, they do look nice, but wasn’t cosmetics supposed to drive players motivation in this game?
(My hope is that the artists are busy with ascended gear’s skins and the like, and that we’ll get something awesome in the future).

Just in regard to your last paragraph, even if glowing stuff could be dyed in the previous game..The radiant armor is not unique like this in gw2. I mean there are plenty of other examples of glowing or whatever things in gw2 that can’t be dyed (speaking only about the effects). Like the flames of CoF armor can’t be dyed…the gauntlets from the Flame and Frost living story can’t be dyed on the glowy orange part.
Maguuma Server
Ranger and Necromancer.
I would like to be able to dye the non-glowing areas. The silver on the radiant does not look good on all of my characters. The shoulders look horrible on all my characters but that is another story.

understandable and I think it’s really just because there is way more work involved in the dye system due to colours with the effects, and some of those effects just wont work. I’m perfectly fine with the glow as it is it looks nice. It’s just the underside that needs the fix
I’d like to at least see the metal parts of radiant armor accept dyes. The particle effects would be cool too but if that’s not possible at least let us dye the material parts.
radiant shoulders – locked to human-guards
yeah can i get some purple on that mine are glitched with my armor….if i get them at least purple it would fix the glitch a little:-)

skins have never been dyable and why would they? a blue jade greatsword makes as much sense as a red radiant gauntlets. get over yourselves and choose wisely or continue kittening your armor choices, all i know is i’m looking objectively better then everyone else cause i choose wisely, all these cosmetic scrubs need to step up! so come at me, i’m basically perfect.

Correction; every armor skin so far has been able to be dyed. I dyed my Fused Gantlets brass, and my Aetherblade coat celestial white, for example. Those dragon bash helmets? Dyed. The gem store armor? Dyed. The rare stuff from last Halloween? Dyed. The radiant and hellfire gantlets and shoulders are the only armor skins that can’t be dyed.

ah i didn’t know that about molten gauntlets. i never notice any difference whenever i see them so i presumed they were just like the hellfire
