You are ANET, and this is Guild Wars 2, not a simple common MMO.
Again you forgot that you wanted to be Innovative.

Raid Yes, but please learn how to make it different.

We play Gw2 with dynamic event (even if you dropped the feeling lately).
Why don’t you make a Dynamic Raid Entrance event. It is a bad feeling to stand in front the a Eaid’s door, with high hope to be taken, people asking for gear or knowledge about the raid or such things.
It is just a bad feeling.

Dynamic Raid’s Entrance:
Example: We play on a Map, we successfully do the event chain, kill the last Boss and the Raid open for some hours.
At this point, the Map is almost full, there is a lot people near the last boss chest. Grouping is easier

Sample: Silverwaste event chain until Vinewrath. After the last boss, NPC could say something like:
Vinewrath’ death left kitten, let’s investigate what is inside, this may be our last chance to understand more.
we will do some groups of “X- player” to facilitate the investigation.

Not just a simple raid door where everybody sleep and wait. This would even give people a reason to finish the map event.

This is an example, i hope you understand the idea behind it.

While part of me wants to laugh and make snide remarks about how raiders can’t handle the same roadblocks as us filthy casuals, let’s be honest here. This is a stupid road block to face. As CruSheR pointed out, it can be very annoying.

It’s annoying when it shuts off a dungeon.

It’s annoying when it shuts off an adventure.

It would be annoying when it shuts off a raid.

You would also have non-raiders saying “Why should we help? Why should we care if we scale up the event?” And while they would have a point, given what raiders have done to the events in VB, that’s not a problem you fix by repeating it.

While I do see some merit to the idea, the real problem is how they’ve placed the raids in normal zones, not the lack of events in the area. Raids need a staging zone all their own.

Sarcasm, delivered with a
delicate, brick-like subtlety.

Terrible idea, what if you want to raid with your guild at certain times? You’ve just made a system which can block loads of people out of raids due to scheduling and meta event timers.

If the problem, OP, is that you are having trouble getting into a raid group. gating the raid will not help. If you are serious about raiding — and it is content that is meant to be taken seriously — then find, or form, a raid guild. Good luck.
