So basically before I quit the game for a while I just want to point out a few things about the game that drove me insane.

1. Why do we have to complete map completion over and over again just to make more than 2 legendaries? Not everyone enjoys repeating the exact same stuff over and over again.

2. Map completion is strictly PvE due to PvE players complaining about having to go to WvW, a game mode they don’t like to get thier legendary while PvP and WvW players don’t have access to legendaries as we don’t enjoy PvE or are forced to grind through endless jumping puzzles on a norn and 10 fps….

3. The game is designed to be fair for all players no matter how you play… NO it’s not… Ascended gear, legendaries, food utilities, gear stats and more are only attainable through PvE and Living Stoy.

4. There is no click all button for opening bags

5. IMO, everything should be attainable through the trading post. (including PvE skins like luminescant)

6. Everything in WvW/PvP is attainable through PvE, but not vice versa.

7. The burst meta…. No tanks/defensive roles. Just stealth burst followed up by stealth stomps.

8. Dungeon groups + players who kick others to make room for guildies.

9. Perplexity Runes

10. The unnecessary buffs to ranger starting with the longbow stealth. (Ranger 2 years ago had a very high skill cap in order to be successful, now a 5 year old could play it)

11. Transfer prices do not match up world to world, dead servers have 1800g price.

12. WvW gear is not salvageable, even though players only want runes back but yet in PvE land you can salvage anything and claim ectos + what ever else from it.

13. The berserker stat nerf.

14. Wardrobe…….. People had double skins that they worked hard for, some people had double legendaries, it’s great we could now use a legendary skin across all characters but every other skin you specifically made for your toon ended up with dust on it so to speak.

15. Dyes…. As someone who went to the effort to buy celestial and abyss for 8 toons before the change, thanks for my 1s dyes in return.

16. The constant neglect towards WvW… Bugs and exploits that have been around since day 1 are still there.

17. The constant PvE content thown at me… I play PvP for the fights, but it’s shifting towards using the hammer, rushing orbs, killing svanir, stronghold in general.

18. No official GvG… I bought this game originally thinking guilds would fight other guilds, the closest resemblance is WvW but the reality of that is guilds are just wiping pug zergs until they get rolled and log off or eotm.

19. No room for melee in large combat zones.

20. Stability change.

21. The condition buff and everything about it… toughness/vit/condition and it’s all set to go with a rare veggie pizza compared to power builds who will need power/prec/ferocity just to have the same damage but will not have the toughness/vit stats to withstand 10 stacks of burn + every other condi.

22. The downed state.

Just some ramblings of a noob, in general I do like the game and I think devs have put a lot of effort into details and the game itself but as a WvW/PvP player I have a hard time seeing these good things out side of the graphics… Like this Mosquito!

I don’t even know where to start but i will just say something about this crying that you, PvP only players complain.

This game is NOT PvP only and the PvP is secondary, period. PvP is just something to play when you are bored of PvE or something like that, it is the PvE, the people that play PvE that gives Anet money, people who need a lot of money fast to craft or buy that skin or buy that black lion salvage kit or something like that. PvP players don’t even care about that and the PvP community is terrible too, it is beyond toxic and rude.

If you want an MMO with PvP mixed with PvE, go play Aion (iirc) but be prepared to be slaughtered while you are just roaming the map trying to complete a quest or gather materials. Or you can go play a fighting game or even better, go play Dark Souls or BloodBorne, the PvP is mixed with PvE in a very nice manner.

And stop crying because this game is focused on PvE, period.

The reason PVP rewards are limited, is because PVP isn’t something that is easily controlled. If Anet added the ability to get legendaries or other rare stuff in PVP it would be easy for people to communicate and throw WvW maps or sPvP matches to help get these items easily. Unless they add in defeat penalties to counterbalance that, adding things into PvP would be easily exploited.

Looks more like “Ramblings of a PVP/WVW player” to me.

WvW has been the least updated part of the game since release, and lots of update had the opposite effect of what they wanted to achieve. Although WvW is one of the more unique aspects of Guild Wars 2 it’s not properly used.

The condition buff was needed for conditions to be viable in PVE but as always they didn’t think what effect it will have in PVP/WVW where condition builds were very strong already.

3. The game is designed to be fair for all players no matter how you play… NO it’s not… Ascended gear, legendaries, food utilities, gear stats and more are only attainable through PvE and Living Stoy.

People keep misinterpreting this…the stats are fair. You can get exotics/ascended from WvW as well, in mostly the same ways you get them from PvE. Save up them laurels and take a trip to the vendor. There are very few things that don’t cross over (sinister, for instance, but that’s because it’s tied to a particular place). But you can get the best armor STATS however you want to go about getting them.

Skins, however, aren’t necessary to gameplay and therefore some require a bit more effort to attain, as they should. They’re our version of the “gear treadmill”. And as for legendary…well, it’s meant to be hard, and the whole point is to have to dip into all aspects of gameplay to get one.

Sorry Sephy, but a lot of the things you stated can be thrown out quit quickly. There are some legitimate complaints though, and I’ll make sure to highlight them…

1. Legendaries take a long time to get even without map completion. It’s just part of the game. Legendaries also don’t have better stats than ascended weapons, so they are not necessary.

2. Fortunately, Ascended weapons have the same stats, so no worries.

3. All things listed aside from legendaries are available in WvW and are not necessary for PvP.

4. This is quite legitimate. Not many enjoy Click Wars 2.

5. Opinion, as stated. Achievement gear would be meaningless.

6. Gift of Battle is only attainable in WvW, and PvP doesn’t need anything from the outside to work.

7. Burst/high dps meta can be an issue. Hopefully they address this with “challenging content” in HoT.

8. Make your own group, bring your own friends/guildies, and don’t kick other people. This is a culture issue, and they have tried to address this by increasing the number of votes required.

9. Nothing wrong with Perplexity.

10. LB Ranger is very pew pew. It is annoying, but has its trade-offs. Shooting from afar means you are not on point, so you are not contributing to capture (unless you kill enemies).

11. World transfer shouldn’t be so easy that hundreds of people could just swap worlds and completely destroy others.

12. Any PvE gear bought with Karma is not salvageable either. All PvE gear received through the story is not salvageable, and any ascended gear is also not salvageable.

13. What nerf? Fairly certain berserker did not get any weaker. Condi just got stronger.

14. Some people like the legendary skins and some don’t. It’s not up to Anet to force us to use certain skins; that’s player choice. I’m glad we have it for the wardrobe.

Clarification 15. What do you mean about the dyes? What change?

16. Agree. They need more attention put towards this mode in general.

17. Do these maps exist in ranked? If you really don’t want to play those maps, make a hotjoin lobby and restrict map options. Random gon’ be random.

18. GvG is coming in HoT within Guild Halls.

19. You can still melee but, as always, it is dangerous when there are more people around. That’s why we have weapon swap.

20. Stability change was awesome and well-needed. Certain builds were insanely OP with invulnerability and stability uptimes where they literally couldn’t be CC’d or damaged for way too long. It also added counterplay to stability.

21. Many condi builds still rely on precision for their “proc-on-crit” conditions. Tough/Vit/Condi is good for survival, but is still missing some good damage. It’s like going Soldiers and expecting good damage.

22. What’s wrong with downed state?

Lol “i will just say something about this crying that you, PvP only players complain.” Believe it or not it’s not just the pvp community who complains though from your post I’m guessing your a PvE player anyways.

On a side note PvE may be sadly paid more attention to like a spoiled child while pvp and wvw tend to be more neglected but when you first buy the game I wouldn’t say that’s evident. For example the title of the game, Guild Wars 2. “Guild Wars,” not Drafon Wars or Adventure Quest but Guild Wars which implies that there’s gonna be a lot of pvp lol. As for pve players putting out most of the cash flow to anet if that’s true that’s only because there’s more of them, not because they actually go out and try to spend more. Most of the best skins I see are in the pvp in fact so I don’t think you can say PvE players care more about looks than the other sides. I mean I’ve been here since beta and across my 10 characters I think he highest map comp I have is like….%17, with about 4 of my people having none because honestly, I couldn’t care less about PvE. I like the lore, I do guild missions, and he occassional jumping puzzle, that’s it.

As for pvp being more toxic, meh it’s not unexpected. For one there’s almost always a heck ton of more vocal people in the pvp lobby and secondly, these are the people who like to play against and beat other players, yah their gonna be more competitive. Is it always great? Nope. Is it the only toxic place in the game? Nope (I mean look at some of the dungeon runners out there lol)

In all honesty I disagree with you and the op but I dot like seeing such extremely biased posts with absolutely no backing so felt like I just had to comment lol. Ttfn, tah tah for now

1) Some do like it.

2) That’s actually like 4 points, but ok. I don’t see anything wrong about removing WvW from world completion, frankly I think it’s a good thing. Yes, it does kinda seem unfair for dedicated WvW to not have and option for getting Gift of Exploration or something equivalent. Try turning your graphics down, and why not role a Asura? No one is making you do jumping puzzles with a norn.

3) Actually you can make ascended gear by only WvW-ing, granted you’d probably buy plenty of items from the TP since the WvW maps aren’t particularly plentiful when it comes to mining nodes, or lower level mats. Still it is possible.
Same food utilities, gear stats (although you’d probably need to buy some recipes from the TP), and practically all of the legendary components (or just the legendary out right) can be gotten from the TP again.
So I guess ‘only’ might be a bit hyperbolic.

5) And remove any and all sense of achievements. Oh sure you can’t get lumi skins in WvW, but I think this is more an issue of ANet not having equivalent rewards across their games types i.e. there is no particularly special WvW armour skins. So I think your approaching this from the wrong perspective.

6) Other than a few things, I’d say no. Also there’s no way to get your Balthazar backpiece, or Glorius armour in PvE. No again we see there is the issue of no parity in terms of rewards among game types, but your statement is again hyperbolic… if we ignore the definition of hyperbole.

7) In PvP and WvW yeah sure. But one would imagine that this is less of an issue in the primarily zerg based WvW, except if you’re a roamer, but it kinda makes sense that certain professions and stats would be better at something like roaming. As for pvp, I do believe a bunker build is a thing you know for holding onto those points in conquest.

10) Can’t speak towards this, I only relatively recently started playing with a ranger and it’s by no means my main.

11) You have to ask yourself, what is the purpose of server transfer? Is it to transfer between servers or to make people more likely to jump between wvw tiers and maybe get a few people on low pop servers.

12) That’s only the vendor gear, which relatively speaking is kinda easier to get.

13) So you complain about their being a room for anything but zerker and then complain about there not being enough zerker?

14) And how would this be fixed?
If players only want to use certain skins, ANet cannot do anything about that. And it hardly impacts your gameplay if someone else has a legendary skin.

15) Eh change happens. I decided to gamble rather, assuming that given the community response that eventually account bound was going to be a thing. The same way I also saved up my skins for the wardrobe. But hey that’s life. Also if you’d kept those dyes they’d be closer to 80 silver – 1 gold now.

16) Does ANet know about them? if so, are they game breaking?
If yes on both accounts, then I agree ANet needs to fix them.

18) We are getting something more GvG-ish in HoT. Hopefully Anet would expand upon it or eventually give us proper GvG. I guess all we can do is keep reminding them.

19) Not really, but I guess it does become a bit difficult for melee when the zerg decide to range each other instead of crashing into each other. Still I’ve seen plenty of melees being relatively useful in those cases.

21) You could go for a toughness/vitality/power build if you like? Lets face it you get better dps for condi when wearing full sinister, so you would be sacraficing some damage for your toughness and vitality there.
Also this completely ignores the fact that condi has been broken since ANet changed the stack limits 3 years ago. The balance between power and condi isn’t perfect, but condi has finally started to become viable. I don’t think having condi be viable is a bad thing.

Well, this player has been playing for a long time. As many of the things he cited happened a year or more ago.

You do not have to do map completion more than once to get more than two legendary weapons. The Alternative? Buy it with gold. Which is ~800g more expensive on average than buying/using your own materials. (Even if you use your own materials, they still have a gold cost)

Gift of Battle? Wot is that….
But if you are getting 10 fps on a jumping puzzle, are you getting 2 in WvW?

WvW has crafting stations. And many pieces of ascended have been crafted in there. As for spvp, gear is standardized…

Should mistforged weapons be obtained in the trading post? What about the balth backpack? what is obtainable there? Going back to your first gripe, Legendaries! No need for map completion there.

Ill combine these two
“7. The burst meta…. No tanks/defensive roles. Just stealth burst followed up by stealth stomps.”
and
“13. The berserker stat nerf.”

Last year, critical damage went from gaining straight percentages from a crit stat to ferocity. Which resulted in a ~10% damage reduction in full zerker builds.

So do you want to go back to more burst? Or is current burst too much? Make up your mind.

As for the Dyes, you made the mistake of opening/selling when that change happened a year ago. Take a look at prices now, almost each UNided dye is worth 1 gold. You said you had 8 characters? How many dyes did you get back? Id be willing to be more than 250. Its your own fault for only getting silvers back when many of us are still reaping in the rewards of said change.

The rest, are not worth me commenting on. Carry on.

What?

We have a 3 sec stealth ability on a 9.5 sec CD, which is reliant on hitting a target.

As opposed to thieves and mesmers which both have far, far, more than that and don’t have to hit anything to use it.

If there is some way to (legally) extend that time/reduce the CD, perhaps someone could let me know what it is?

As I have been through all the traits and found nothing.

Not only that, but why should ranger be harder to play than other classes?

Not only is that unfair, but it also will be off-putting to newer players, many of whom tend to gravitate towards pet classes, as they look like a fun option.

I agree with you re. people kicking people to make room for friends and WvW being poorly rewarded, compared with PVE (and some of your other points); but I simply have to take issue with the ranger thing.
