I posted on the “gifting strangers” thread (making a request of course, because I’m eternally poor) yesterday. Today I reloaded the page to see if there was anything new, and it said there’s no such thread. I can’t see what it could have done wrong. Has it been moved, or removed?

Yeah, it looks like the thread was deleted for some reason. That’s odd. I wonder why it was removed.

Not true, there was at one time and still is to a certain extent. But, anyone who’s seen that person ask in DR ask for 100 leather for a struggling player, then promptly go to LA and do the same thing is kind of weary of offering kindness.

I think you mean the gift stranger thread in player help player forum. Maybe it get remove because some player in that thread try to use to make trades off TP. I see this a few time. Also there some people I think not very honest and try to use thread to get things for greed. I see one person ask for things then maybe week later delete that post ask for more different things. Always different story and then do this again several time. Always delete early post before to look like not ask for to much. To bad so many people can not have trust in thread like that. I think some people abuse it for greed and maybe why Anet delete it.

Awww I thought it was a “Share your experience when someone did something nice for you for no reason!” thread.
So many times Mesmers porting people, many times I’ve ported people myself :> I’ve given gold (max 10g) to people in need, etc.
The greatest act of “kindness” was a 15g “tip” for helping someone complete all 4 HoT Maps because I know them pretty well. It wasn’t even all the points, just some HP and Vistas the dude needed.

^ No it was thread for people ask for thing they need/want. It start out nice. People ask for a few material need to finish craft some thing or some cheap thing from gem store like make over kit. Then it turn in to many people ask for thing like gift HoT, precursor, other very expensive thing. Many time some story how love the thread will help other player then then ask for some most expensive thing in game.

I gift a few player make over kit and some guy that need box o fun. But I give up after thread get where people ask for greed thing.

A couple of days ago I was leveling an alt when I received a random player mail, which I only saw recently. It was from “The Dye Fairy”, contained a dye and the words “Here, have a random dye”

Somehow I felt that this was by far the most awesome thing that has happened to me in any MMO ever. Forget Eve University, this is the kitten! There is a guy out there gifting random dyes to newbies just because. That is absolutely AWESOME.

I pondered a lot what to send him/her back (wanted to send a friendship bracelet, but those are account bound, as I found out to my dismay), but I think when I log in I’ll just spam him with a ton of dyes he can give to people.

I honestly love this community.

Aw, that’s a sweet story, Andulias. I remember some random person in DR sent me a small collection of sweets, alcohol, and other wintersday items with a note saying it was from the “Wintersday Elf”. It made me smile.

I don’t think begging thread is allowed.

Anytime there is a thread like that some will take advantage, others are genuine. Sad it disappeared though, I was running a test to see if some one would get me something. Didn’t seem to work though, so it may have been more on the begging side where caring people stopped caring.

Someone sent me 5G for getting them up the disco ball achievement in TD.
I returned it said I don’t need the money – I have plenty and kept on smiling.

Amazing to see how quickly this got adorable… xD Make this into an actual RAK thread all you want!
